*STOMACH ULCER*
A stomach ulcer is a sore in the lining of your stomach or upper small intestine. It happens when stomach acid damages the protective lining.
*Common causes*
* *H. pylori bacteria:* A common bacterial infection that weakens the stomach lining
* *Pain medicines:* Long-term use of NSAIDs like ibuprofen, diclofenac.
*Smoking and alcohol:* Irritate the stomach lining.
*Stress and spicy food:* Don’t directly cause ulcers, but they can make symptoms worse.
*Common symptoms*
* Burning or gnawing pain in upper belly, often when stomach is empty and gets better after eating
* Bloating, heartburn, nausea.
* In some cases: dark/black stool, vomiting blood. These are signs to get help urgently.
*Things that may help with comfort*
* *Food:* Gentle foods like oatmeal, bananas, cooked veggies, lean proteins. Coconut water can be soothing because it’s gentle and hydrating.
* *Avoid:* Alcohol, very spicy foods, coffee, NSAIDs on an empty stomach, smoking.
* *Meals:* Smaller, more frequent meals instead of big ones
*NOTE:* Ulcers can be treated and often heal with the right care.
