THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OVULATION AND THE FERTILE WINDOW.
"I ovulated yesterday, so I can't get pregnant today."
That statement has led to many unexpected pregnancies.
Here's what many people don't know
Ovulation is NOT the same as your fertile window.
Ovulation is the day your o***y releases an egg.
Your fertile window is the group of days leading up to ovulation and shortly after, when pregnancy is possible.
Why?
Because s***m can survive inside the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while the egg usually survives for about 12–24 hours after ovulation.
That means having s*x before ovulation can still result in pregnancy if the s***m are already waiting when the egg is released.
This is why saying, "I'm not ovulating today, so I'm safe," is a risky assumption.
And here's another truth
Not every woman ovulates on Day 14. Ovulation varies from woman to woman and can even change from one cycle to the next due to stress, illness, travel, hormonal changes, and other factors.
Knowledge is better than assumptions.
Understanding your cycle can help whether you're trying to conceive or simply learning how your body works.
