I used to be very quick to say, “But I can learn this on YouTube.” 😂

And sometimes, that’s exactly what you should do.

But as I’ve learnt more and started investing in my own growth, I’ve realised that not everything free is necessarily the best option for every situation.

Sometimes, paying for the right online course, digital product or learning resource simply helps you get there faster.

Just make sure you’re paying for actual value and not just packaging.

Do your research before you buy. Check the person’s experience, results and what other people are saying.

And when you finally buy it, please use it.

Some “good financial decisions” can actually hurt your business when you don’t look at the full picture.

A profitable product isn’t automatically the best product to keep, cutting costs isn’t always the fastest way to improve profit and sticking rigidly to your budget isn’t always good financial management.

Understanding your business finances, profitability, cost management and financial performance means looking beyond the obvious number and understanding what is driving it.

If you’re a business owner, these are the kinds of finance and business strategy lessons worth understanding.

I paused my ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) journey for what I thought would be a short break.

That “little pause” stretched into 5 years. In that time, life took me in directions I never planned; I shifted careers, explored new industries, discovered skills I never thought I’d have, and found passions outside of accounting.

Now, I’m back to continue my accounting and finance career path, but I’m not coming back the same. I’m carrying every lesson, every mistake, and every ounce of growth those 5 years gave me.

Accounting once felt like the only thing that defined me. Numbers were my safe space, my forever home. But today, I know I’m more than just spreadsheets; I’m a story of resilience, career growth, and second chances.

So here I am, starting again… imperfect, unpolished, but real.
