.....DECISION TIME....😭😭📸🎥
A production assistant (PA) who has worked in Nollywood for 6 years is still earning 15000naira to 20,000naira per film.
Their money never increases even though they wake up very early to clean, set up, do the dirty jobs before anyone else, they’re the last to go to bed everyday when everyone else has slept.
These guys are the engine that drives a movie but the most disrespected.
An actor who came into the industry just a few month ago is now charging a million naira for 3days and producers and Executive producers are even begging to pay.
What iritates me is the fact that, most of these actors treat these production assistants like they’re trash. I walked out of a set because a small girl slapped a PA and refused to apologize.
The owner of the film instead of asking the actress to apologize, went ahead to sack the PA because the actress said she will no longer act if the PA is on the set.
I also refused to direct until she apologizes.
The owner of the film, called 3 different directors who are my juniors to replace me and they all turned the job down, because there was a 1year suspension hanging over their heads should they accept the job.
When I see viewers watch a film and drop certain reviews, I just laugh. How do you assemble a big cast, pay them millions then the entire crew of that job and their fees put together is below half a million.
And you’re expecting magic. There are laws of productivity that can’t be broken.
How do you expect to have a good film when you are pricing a director 120,000 naira to direct a film, while paying an actor 2 million naira?
The anger alone will prevent that director from being creative.
Over 90% of Nollywood film directors are broke.
Some accept the jobs because they don’t want their families to starve and children out of school.
Most of them have serious health issues because a producer will pay an actor 2 million to get just two or 3days with the actor to film, then force the miserable crew to shoot 90 scenes in a movie in two days.
Most of these crew members end up very sick, some die, but you won't know because it will never make the headlines since they are not celebrities.
Nollywood is seriously sick.
God Never Forgets!
