Building confident readers starts with simple words.

Sound it out, blend it together, read it.

Every little word is a step towards fluent reading.

Your child knows the ABCs, so why can’t they read?

This is one of the biggest things parents misunderstand about early reading.

Knowing that A is A, B is B, C is C does not automatically mean a child knows how to read.

Reading requires children to understand sounds and how those sounds work together to form words.

For example:

S says /s/
A says /a/
T says /t/

Now we blend:

/s/ /a/ /t/ → SAT

That is phonics in action.

Instead of spending all your time asking:

❌ What letter is this?

Try asking:

✅ What sound does this letter make?

Then help your child blend the sounds together.

The goal isn't just to memorize letters.

The goal is to understand how sounds work together to create words.

If you're teaching your child to read, save this post.

And tell me in the comments:

Does your child know the ABCs but still struggle to read simple words?

A LITTLE REMINDER FOR PARENTS

Your child doesn’t have to learn everything in one day.

Learning takes time, practice, repetition, and lots of encouragement.

Read a story together.
Practise a few sounds.
Count everyday objects.
Ask questions.
Let your child play and explore.

These simple moments build strong foundations for learning.

At Teacher Linda Kids Learning Hub, we believe learning should be intentional, engaging and child-friendly.

Every little step counts.

Keep teaching. Keep encouraging. Keep believing in your child.

Does your child mix up b and d?

Don’t panic, it’s a common part of early literacy development. Instead of correcting them repeatedly, use simple strategies like the BED trick, sounds, tracing, and playful word practice.
Little learners need time, patience, and the right support.
Save this for your next reading practice and share it with a parent who needs it.

Reading Starts With the Right Foundation

Just like a house needs a strong base, a child's reading journey starts with the basics sounds, letters, and phonics. Skip this step, and even bright kids can struggle later. Build it right, and everything else (fluency, vocabulary, confidence) follows.

It's never too late to strengthen the foundation.

Whether you're a parent or educator, invest in the basics first, your child's future reading success depends on it.

Sometimes, the strongest people carry the heaviest journeys in silence.

This is an inspirational story with a powerful reminder: never judge someone by what you see on the outside. The struggles people face are often invisible, and the sacrifices behind their success are rarely noticed.

May we choose kindness over judgment and perseverance over excuses.

Homophones can be confusing, but learning them doesn't have to be.

In today's lesson, we explored words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. With fun examples and simple explanations, children can build stronger reading, spelling, and writing skills one lesson at a time.

Which homophone pair do you find the trickiest?

One of the best ways to know if your child truly understands a lesson is to ask them to teach it back to you in their own words.
If they struggle to explain it, don't worry that simply shows where they need a little more practice. Learning becomes stronger when children explain what they know.
Try this today: Let your child play "teacher" by explaining today's lesson to you, a sibling, or even their favorite teddy bear. You'll be amazed at how much they remember and how their confidence grows.

Is Your Child Ready for Preschool?

Starting preschool is a big milestone, and every child gets there at their own pace. There's no perfect timeline, but there are a few signs that may show your little one is ready:

✅ They enjoy playing with other children.
✅ They can follow simple instructions.
✅ They ask lots of questions and are eager to learn.
✅ They can communicate their basic needs.
✅ They're becoming more confident and independent.

Now I'd love to hear from you.

What was the one sign that made you realize your child was ready for preschool?

Share your experience in the comments. Your story might encourage another parent who is preparing for this exciting journey.
