LETTER OF CONDOLENCE

A sad fact is that with life comes death. It will happen to all of us. But that doesn’t make dealing with or understanding it any easier.

TEAM LIBERTY wants to use this medium to express their deepest sympathy with the family and friends of Joseph (MinJoe), A student of Agricultural Science Dept in 300 level who passed on yesterday 16th of October 2022.

It is true that no one wishes to die, it is also a fact that we can't avoid it, we pray that he finds peace where ever she is and Almighty God comforts her parents and give strength to his loved ones.

We also send our sincere condolences to the department of Agricultural Science, May Almighty God continue to watch over each and everyone of us.

While we are not rejoicing over the death of this special being we however urge everyone to learn to live your lives in such a way that you will be remembered for your kindness, selflessness and humility.

Sequel to the decision of the academic staff union of universities (ASUU) to suspend the strike action embarked upon since the month of February and the memo earlier released by the university management stating in clear terms date of resumption (14th October 2022), we write to inform our students to take this memo with utmost seriousness and act accordingly.

It is fact that the strike has indeed affected and still affecting our academic calender and in bid to rescue the situation, move at a fast pace and makeup for the months spent off campus, you're enjoined to resume back to school to commence academic activities.

Meanwhile, Matriculation ceremony has been scheduled for Thursday 20th of October for freshers, to officially declare them as members of our union and bonafide students of our great citadel of leaning, in this vein, all 100 level and direct entry students are keenly adviced to make themselves available for this memorable event.

Dear TASUEDites, we have envisioned before now some challenges our student will be confronted with upon resumption, amoung which are Landlord/Students struggle in respect to payments, commencement of e-test and exams, irrational fees amoung others. As responsible union executives, we advice that you do not go into physical or abusive attack with your landlord/agent rather diplomatically and logically break grounds towards reaching a fruitful conclusion and seek the union support through the office of the welfare director where and when necessary.

We are aware of concerns,fears and panic about the examination timetable, while we remain agents of progress and partners in success with the management, we remain resolute to agitating for the concerns of our students who hold us in high esteem. For this reason, be rest assured that we wouldn't be too eager to finish the semester/sessions while forgetting the basics, we would not only concentrate on the fruit rather focus more on the root, we will to the best of our ability ensure the good working condition of systems in the university computer laboratory, be convinced that questions are set in line with the dictates of the academic system while urging all and sundry to read extensively, focus on content materials and fulfilling all righteousness.

Dear TASUEDites, we like to reiterate our commitment and readiness towards attending to your concerns and proffering solutions with the best of our ability. Our formidable strength will however make us thrive over all obstacles and challenges.

In the early hours of Monday Sept 5 2022, the rumor of the death of a final year student of Educational Management Department of our prestigious university spread around like wild fire.

The rumor was debated endlessly by different individuals who were in pure disbelief, As active student union representatives, we took it upon ourselves to get to the root of the matter and find out the true state and condition of PAUL DAMILARE.

His family was contacted and we found out he was involved in a gravely accident which made him unconscious. He was therefore rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Delegates were selected among his departmental mates to check up on his well being at the hospital, And we were later informed few hours after the incident that he departed the mother earth.

Paul Damilare was a young and promising soul whose lives and times revolves around liveliness, dedication and a zeal of putting a smile on the face of everyone around him.

We however extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. We pray his soul continues to rest in peace and may God grant his household the fortitude to bear the unrepairable loss.

It is a disheartening fact that there has been a 7 month pause on all our Academic Activities as students of the university and despite all our cries, complaints, peaceful protests and pleas the FG has turned deaf hears and decided to look the other side and continue to waste the wealth of our nation on irrelevancies.

Most students who have lost their optimistic fate as regards to the strike can't be blamed and the question "are we still resuming this year?" ponders on the lips of many.

The Student Union Executives have not been in hibernation rather we have been concious of the ongoings and constantly made moves that will be of positive impact to all Tasuedites at Large.

Meetings have been attended, Calls have been made to the necessary quarters to ensure we all resume as soon as possible and of course, Skill up and Empowerment programmes have been organised to make certain that TASUEDites are well developed and trained with skills they can easily implement to earn an income.

Yesterday 22nd of August 2022, A publication was released by the university management as regards the sales of post UTME forma and the jamb cut off mark for our institution, I will like to use this medium to relax your minds as I can assure you that the present 100 level won't be in any way affected.

This are just neccesary procedures to be taken as we await a positive response from the FG.

While we can't predict when the strike would be called off, I want to advice that you utilize this period to equip yourself with the needed skills to remain relevant and fit in properly into the emerging society. Learn the unknown, relearn the uncertain, unlearn the ambiguous.
