In the days following the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, prominent evangelical leader Franklin Graham has spoken out, calling the incident a catalyst for renewed faith among young Christians.

In an interview made available to GospelRaw, Graham said the 31-year-old’s murder has unintentionally sparked a powerful spiritual response, rather than silencing his message.

In an appeal for greater Christian involvement in governance, Rev. Blessed Amalambu has called on church leaders across Abia State and beyond to rally behind the advocacy of Barrister Emmanuel Ihim, who has been championing the active participation of Christians in politics.

Rev. Amalambu made this call while speaking with our correspondent in Umuahia during the Christian Citizenship Network Summit held over the weekend. The event was organized to encourage civic responsibility, ethical leadership, and increased political participation among Christians. It brought together a diverse mix of faith leaders, youth representatives, government officials, and members of the public.

According to Amalambu, who serves as the General Overseer of Christ Generation Ministry Inc. in Umuahia and is also a senior figure within the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, the time has come for Christians to stop shying away from political roles. He believes such reluctance has allowed systems of governance to be overtaken by individuals who lack moral and spiritual guidance.

Prominent clerics have called for Nigerian churches to collaborate with the government in addressing the growing security challenges in the country. The call was made during the opening ceremony of the Giant Killers Conference 2025, organized by the Foundation of Truth Assembly (FOTA) in Lagos State on Wednesday night. The event also marked the church’s 20th anniversary.

Bishop Mike Okonkwo, the presiding bishop of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission, emphasized that the government alone cannot solve the insecurity issues that have become a national concern. He stated that while security is primarily the government’s responsibility, Nigerians, including the church, must work together to tackle the situation. “The church can partner with the government and speak up where there is insecurity,” Okonkwo said. “We need to be forthright and speak to those in power so that the government begins to take on its responsibility. If they are not performing, they should step down from their positions.”

The Lagos State Police Command has cleared Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, after an investigation into a viral video showed him holding what appeared to be a weapon.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the police confirmed that Pastor Adefarasin had voluntarily reported to their headquarters in Ikeja for questioning following the incident.

The police explained that after a detailed investigation, including questioning Pastor Adefarasin and obtaining his statement, it was determined that the object seen in the video was a stun gun, not a firearm.
