Gospel filmmaker and actor Ohis Ojiekere, popularly known as The Winlos, has spoken about the increasing effectiveness of film evangelism, saying it is now drawing far greater engagement than traditional preaching across digital platforms.

Ojiekere, in a post shared on his verified social media account, referenced findings showing that visual storytelling generates about three times more interaction than conventional preaching methods online.

According to him, “Movies enter places where missionaries cannot go, the heart, the home, and the internet. Christian films are not just entertainment; they are evangelism wrapped in storytelling.”

Tension has risen in Plateau State after a senior church leader, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, openly condemned former presidential aide Reno Omokri for what he described as a denial of attacks on Christians in parts of the country.

Rev. Dachomo, who heads the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, spoke in an emotional video posted on his page. The clergyman accused Omokri of dismissing reports of targeted killings in Plateau and other regions, warning that divine judgment would come upon him if he failed to seek forgiveness.

“There are clear cases of massacre taking place. I have proof, including photographs of children and other innocent victims who were brutally killed,” Rev. Dachomo said in the video. “I have already placed a curse on him. He will not find peace unless he repents.”

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the nineteen northern states and the Federal Capital Territory has called for calm and a renewed focus on unity following recent remarks by Donald Trump regarding alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!
Rev. John Hayab, chairman of CAN in the north, urged that President Trump’s statements be taken not as an invitation to conflict, but as a prompt for all Nigerians – Christian, Muslim or otherwise – to come together in defence of life, faith and national harmony.

He argued that rather than viewing the U.S. leader’s comments through a purely religious or political lens, Nigerians should see them as a wake-up call to end killings and intolerance across communities. “This is an opportunity for peace-loving Christians and Muslims to unite and insist upon action by our government to stop the killing of persons because of religion or any form of identity,” Rev. Hayab said.

In a statement made available to GospelRaw, Ayodele claimed that some international interests, including figures in the United States, might be using the ongoing debate over alleged attacks on Christians in Nigeria as a political strategy.

Police officers from the state’s Criminal Investigation Department arrived at the home of the Rev. Daud Fudul Kachu in Atbara at around 6 p.m. on October 28 and presented him with an arrest warrant. Witnesses said that when members of his congregation requested time for him to consult the church lawyer, two other officers emerged from hiding and forced him into a waiting vehicle.

Pastor Kachu, who has led the church for three decades, was taken to Atbara Police Station and placed in custody. He was questioned the following morning and told that he had 30 days to vacate the church premises at the demand of a Muslim businessman.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Senator Risch accused President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration of silencing dissenting voices through intimidation and violence. He said recent incidents targeting Christian leaders and opposition figures were signs of a deepening political crisis.

“This crackdown is not only an assault on Christians and other citizens,” Risch wrote, “it also threatens Tanzania’s stability, undermines United States security and economic interests, and risks pushing the country further into China’s embrace.”

Speaking on the 23rd day of the event, Bassey explained that he is choosing not to earn revenue from his online broadcasts because he feels it is not God’s guidance for him at this time. He emphasized that his ministry and blessings will continue through other avenues, and that monetising could lead to misunderstandings about his intentions.

“If I monetise, some will say I am seeking money; if I do not, they will claim I am proud,” Bassey said.

The founder and presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, said that honour determines the level of grace and success a pastor experiences.

Speaking during a sermon, Ibiyeomie said that the most powerful pastors working with him are not necessarily those who lead the biggest congregations, but those who show him honor.

“If you think honor has no power, I can tell you. The most powerful pastors working with me are not the ones who pastor the biggest churches. The biggest churches are pastored by those who honor me,” he said.

Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese has appealed to the United States government to avoid labeling Nigeria once again as a country of particular concern, warning that such a move could slow the progress being made toward improving religious freedom.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!
Speaking at the Vatican during the unveiling of the Aid to the Church in Need 2025 report on global religious freedom, Kukah argued that a redesignation would create setbacks rather than solutions. He said many Nigerians already feel exposed and unprotected, and the added pressure from international sanctions could worsen the situation.

The “country of particular concern” label is reserved for nations accused of severe and consistent violations of religious rights. In recent months, some US lawmakers have called for Nigeria to be sanctioned over allegations of discrimination and violence against Christians.

Apostle Joshua Selman, founder and senior pastor of Eternity Network International (Koinonia Global), has called for greater attention to the mental health of ministers, saying some pastors may be carrying unresolved trauma that influences their ministry.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!
Speaking at the 40th anniversary conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Selman said it is important for church leaders to undergo mental evaluations to ensure they are emotionally and psychologically fit to serve. He explained that many preachers unconsciously project personal pain from childhood and other life experiences onto their sermons, which can affect their congregation.

According to him, not every issue within the church can be solved through prayer and fasting alone. He suggested that professionals in mental health should sometimes be involved to help ministers deal with hidden emotional wounds.
