SELF CARE 2

Hey Family 🄰🄰
Just as we promised, this is the continuation of our self care tips.
If you didn't see the first part, please scroll down the page and locate the post.

āœ“ Prioritize your health
Taking care of both your physical and mental health can help you maintain a healthy balance of mind, body, and spirit—all things that will play into your well-being and ability to write productively. Make sure to set up some form of regular exercise (ideally 30 minutes or more per day!) and really stick to it.
Studies has shown that exercise triggers hormones and other changes in your brain that affect mood, thinking speed, mental sharpness and even athletic performance

In addition to exercise, make sure you're drinking enough water, getting lots of sleep, and eating healthy meals. Taking time to relax and time to socialize can also have a positive impact on your mental and physical health.
Always remember that taking care of yourself is the best way to ensure that you stay healthy, creative, and productive as a writer.

Set writing hours

Alot of times, we can get so enthusiastic and busy as writers and not have a healthy work-life balance. This is why it is essential to create writing hours for yourself and stick to them to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
Whether writing is a part- or full-time gig for you, create a regular schedule with a firm start and stop time that you know you can stick to. Choose a realistic time of day when you are most productive and least likely to be distracted. While you'll always want to jot down ideas as they come to you, try to make sure working outside of your set hours is kept to a minimum so you can use that time to really step away. You might just surprise yourself at how much more productive you can be when you give yourself the time to rest and recharge!

We'll stop here today Fam🄰
If you have been engaging these tips, let us know in the comments how they have helped you😊😊.

Have a blessed week Fam!Create a regular writing schedule with a firm start and stop time—it's key to maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

STOP HOARDING THOSE IDEAS IN YOUR HEAD!

You see those ideas in your head, let them flow!
Stop hoarding them!
Write them down!

One thing I noticed about up coming writers is the fact that they want to have everything crafted out before putting them down.

It doesn't always work that way.
You should always pen your thoughts down even if it is just an idea.
That's why you are called a writer.
The more you write, the more inspiration you get.
The more you write, the better you become as you gain mastery in your skill.
You don't need to be perfect before you can put a perfect piece together.

Write down your ideas, then brood on them.
As you brood on them, keep writing every single inspiration you get so you don't loose them.

Browse and learn more about the concept of your idea if you have to, but don't stop writing.

The more you write, the more ideas you get and the more you gain mastery in this field.

Have a blessed week Dear Writer.
We're rooting for you!🄰🄰

SELF CARE - PART 1

Dear Writer,

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF TOO!
Yes, you need to take care of yourself.

One thing you should always remember is that as a writer, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle of producing content and neglecting your own well-being.
Writer burnout (you know, that overwhelming feeling of being done with everything and everyone) is a very real issue. Many writers have given up on their writing career because they couldn't handle this.

Taking the time to practice self-care can help you overcome and even avoid stress, anxiety, burnout, and more when it comes to writing.

Self-care is about making time for yourself, replenishing your creativity, and doing things that make you feel fulfilled and happy.

Let's show you a few things you can do to replenish your creativity and productivityšŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

Meditate
Meditation is a great tool for self-care as it can help to reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout, while increasing your focus, creativity, and productivity. Meditation is a practice of calming your mind and focusing on your breath. By taking just a few minutes each day to meditate, you can reap the benefits for your mental and physical health.

Take breaks regularly:
Taking regular breaks is essential for writers, especially those prone to burnout or writer's block. Taking a break can help clear your mind, spark creativity, and give you the energy to keep writing. Give yourself permission to rest and recoup. Whether that means going for a quick walk around your house, grabbing a snack or something bigger like a weekend getaway, give yourself permission to take the break you need. For short breaks during your writing hours, set alarms to remind yourself to step away from your desk—and do it—even if you're in the middle of a really great scene.

Create a morning routine
By having a morning routine, you can change your outlook of the entire day. Instead of rolling out of bed, grabbing your laptop and coffee, and getting straight to writing, consider setting aside some time for an effective morning routine. Here are some ideas to get you started. Dedicate some time to you, whether that means taking a shower, doing your skincare routine, meditating, or going for a walk—something to refresh your mind and body. Next, take time to get organized and set intentions for the day. Make a list of tasks, prioritize them, and set realistic goals. Finally, don't forget to eat a nourishing breakfast to give you the energy you need to get through the day. Everyone is different, so find what works to set you up for a successful day.

Bonus: Once your morning routine is in place, consider implementing an evening/sleep routine too like having a warm bath, relaxing and listening to calming music.

Always remember that health is wealth. It is only an healthy individual that can have productive results that will increase their wealthšŸ¤—.

Proof-reading Tips: Let us discuss some of the proofreading tips that will help you effectively edit your work.

1. Take a Break: Whenever you have finished writing, take some time off and later proofread. This actually clears your mind of all the clutter so that when you get back to your work, you look through it afresh with a clearer perspective. If your mind is stressed, you will miss on mistakes that should be corrected.

2. Print: Proofread from a hard copy to catch errors more easily. Proofreading sometimes is easier to do on paper than on the screen.

3. Read Aloud: You'll often catch errors and awkward phrasing in your writing when you read your text out loud that you don't see when reading silently.

4. Look for One Type of Error at a Time: Look for particular errors at one time, for example, grammatical, punctuation, spelling, etc.
5. Use Tools: Grammar and spell-checking programs can help, but it isn't the perfect tool. They can often miss errors where context is required.
6. Format Check: Make sure that your document has a uniform format and adheres to any guidelines or style required.

7. Slow Down: Read at a crawling pace to make sure that you are not missing something.

8. Get Another Pair of Eyes: Letting someone else review your work will often catch things you missed or bring insight that was overlooked.

9. Read in reverse: Begin with the last sentence and read backward to the first to help you detect errors more efficiently.

10. Stay Focused: Try to eliminate all the other distractions and remain focused.

11. Check problem areas: Check really hard in places where you most commonly make errors such as homophones and punctuation.

12. Come back and tell me thank you after you implement my expo.

Have a great week.

One painful experience of a writer is writing a content and editing it to ensure that there is no mistake, only to post it and then see some mistakes in the first few lines.
You can't help but wonder why you didn't notice the mistake even after reading it a million times.

OR

Has it ever happened to you that you came across a post with an interesting topic, but lost interest while reading because of the grammatical errors in it?

It is due to things like this that we want to discuss proofreading.

Proofreading means carefully going through and checking the written text for spelling, grammatical mistakes, and errors in punctuation, consistency, and accuracy. The proofreading process aims at ensuring the text is error-free, clear, concise, and engaging.

Any writer should learn and possess proofreading, for it raises the quality of your work, shows avoidance of blunders and mistakes, is accurate, and builds confidence with the readers.

Proofreading of your work should ascertain that you have done the following:
• Reading your text more than once
• Checking if there is consistency in formatting, style, and tone
• Checking all the facts, statistics, and references.
Error correction and revision; improvement in sentence structure and clarity. Effective proofreading requires attention to detail, good grammar skills and language skills, familiarity with the subject matter, patience, and focus.

Proofreading can be done manually or aided by tools and software, like grammar and spell checkers. However, it requires the human proofreader to catch nuanced errors and guarantee that the text answers the intention.

If you can't do this, get a Pro to do it as you learn the skill. Your work needs that touch of professionalism, and looking it over will do just that.

Let's talk about taking your writing to the next levelšŸ¤—

Writing is an art that requires practice, dedication and attention to details. Usually, people are better in reading than in writing and they struggle with writing due to the lack of knowledge about grammar, phrases and other rules and regulations.

Writing is a process and improving your writing skill is very possible. Let's see two tips that can help improve your writing skills and make you a better writer:

IMPROVE YOUR VOCABULARY BY LEARNING NEW WORDS:
A strong vocabulary is essential for effective communication because it helps you to express yourself better, understand what you read more accurately, and be able to communicate more efficiently with others.

To improve your vocabulary, start by creating a list of words you’d like to incorporate into your writing. It could be a list of words related to a topic you are researching on, or words you heard somewhere that you would like to use. Then use these words to make a point while writing.

Another great way to improve your vocabulary is by using flashcards. Flashcards are an effective way to learn new words and their definitions. You can also quiz yourself with flashcards to test your knowledge.

You can also use online tools and resources to help you learn new words.

PRACTICE READING AND WRITING:
Reading and practice are the two most important elements of improving writing skill. They are essential for improving your skills as a writer. It’s a great way to learn new writing techniques and styles. Try to find books and articles that interest you and cover topics that are relevant to your occupation. The more you read, the more you will get familiar with different writing styles. You can then master the ones that you like.

Once you have done a lot of reading, the next step is to start writing. It is important to set aside some time every day to practice writing. Start with short pieces, such as blog posts or short stories.

As you become more confident, try tackling longer pieces such as essays or research papers. Writing regularly will help you learn the fundamentals of good writing and identify your strengths and weaknesses.

ASSESSMENT:
Write out three new words and their meanings on a flash card everyday.
Make a plan to write everyday, at least for thirty minutes.

Use the new words you learn to make points when writing.

HOW PERSONAL GROWTH CAN ENHANCE YOUR WRITING

The issue of personal growth can never be over emphasized. Anyone who wants to keep scaling new heights must seek ways to keep improving and developing themselves because with personal development comes greater capacity for success and influence.

Personal growth and development involves gaining more knowledge and skills in different areas to improve/ increase your value.
Personal growth is not just what you wish for. It requires conscious efforts and intentional actions. It also require patience because it is a continuous process.

As a writer, there's so much that you can do in your writing career if you do not stop learning and growing.

LET'S SHOW YOU HOW PERSONAL GROWTH CAN ENHANCE YOUR WRITING:

1. Improved Authenticity: have you realized that writing from a place of knowledge and experience is entirely different from just gathering facts to make up your content? Personal growth increases your knowledge capacity that when it is time to make contents, you can easily draw from the wells of knowledge and experience that you gathered while growing. It makes your work real and authentic and brands it with your signature.

2. Expanded perspectives and deeper insights: personal growth exposes you to new experiences, people, places and ideas that enriches your writing because your work will come from diverse points of views that your audience can relate with regardless of where they come from.

3. In your growth process, you will gain clarity concerning your values and passion and this will help give your writings a sense of direction and purpose. You won't have to keep making haphazard contents. You will understand who your audience are and you will be able to serve them right.

4. Let's not forget the fact that there will be improved creativity. Personal growth can stimulate new ideas and help you come up with contents in innovative ways. One thing that captures your audience is how you present your content. Leave that your archaic method of writing alone and embrace new methodsšŸŒšŸŒ. It is only God that does not change; your writing style should change.

5. Most importantly is that you build your communication skills as you grow. You will learn to communicate more effectively, making your contents more engaging, enlightening and inspiring.

I hope with these few points that you will prioritize your personal growth so that you can become an effective, authentic and compelling writer.
Dear writer, growth is a continuous process, so keep growing. The day you stop growing, your career stops growing too.

THE RIGHT MINDSET

Cultivating a positive approach to writing involves developing a mindset that embraces creativity, resilience, and enjoyment.

Many writers has met the writer's block and has given up due to various factors that has influenced their mindset and negatively impacted their writings.
The fear of not meeting up with the expected outcome, unrealistic expectations and the need to be perfect, the feeling of adequacy and comparing oneself with others which often leads to self-criticism and negative self-talks has killed the dreams and aspirations of many writers today.
They do not even have the zeal and passion to continue with what they love because all they see is their inadequacies and failures - you see, 'the wrong mindset'.

However, if you are going through any of these and you desire to come out of it and become better again, here are some tips that can help build a positive mindset because your work needs a positive mindset to grow.

So, these are factors that can influence your mindset and prepare them for writing:

1. READING:
Reading widely and often exposes you to different writing styles, genres, and ideas, sparking inspiration and creativity.

2. RESEARCH:
Gathering information and resources related to your writing topic builds confidence and credibility.

3. BRAINSTORMING:
Free writing, mind mapping, or listing ideas helps organize thoughts and get your creative juices flowing.

4. DEVELOPING A WRITING ROUTINE:
Establishing a regular writing schedule trains your mind to get into a writing mindset.

5. PRACTICING WRITING EXERCISES:
Engaging in exercises like free writing, prompts, or journaling warms up your writing muscles.

6. SELF-CARE:
Taking care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being ensures you're energized and focused for writing. Take breaks, exercise, and prioritize your physical and mental well-being.

7. FOCUS ON THE PROCESS, NOT PERFECTION:
Enjoy the journey of writing, rather than fixating on the end result.

8. CELEBRATE SMALL WINS:
Acknowledge and celebrate your progress, no matter how small.

9. SEEK SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY:
Connect with fellow writers, join writing groups, or find a writing buddy for encouragement and feedback.

10. EMBRACE FAILURE AND LEARN:
View rejections and setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow.

Dear writer, it's time to return to you notepad. There's alot inside of you that needs to come out through your pen. You can keep tying yourself down with negativity. Get up and write, we want to glean from the wisdom from your pen.
Start writing again!
Do not procrastinate!
Start today!

Hello everyone,

In our previous discussion, I mentioned that we would explore some book marketing strategies. Let's begin with your BOOK COVER.

It's surprising how many authors are unaware of, or indifferent to, the significant impact a book cover has on sales.

Let me be clear: if your book cover isn't outstanding, no amount of marketing can compensate for it.

The challenge with book covers is their personal nature.

While it's understandable that we want to adore our book covers, the reality is that it's the readers who need to love them. An exceptional book cover will:

1. Capture attention: A professionally designed and visually appealing cover grabs potential readers' attention, increasing the likelihood of them noticing and considering your book.

2. Create positive first impressions: A well-crafted cover sets a positive initial impression, reflecting the book's tone, genre, and quality.

3. Stand out in a crowded market: A distinctive and attractive cover helps your book stand out, making it more memorable in a saturated market.

How can you tell if your book cover isn't effective? Feedback from readers like, "I didn't realize this was what the book was about," can indicate that your cover doesn't accurately represent your genre or topic.

Additionally, examining Amazon bestseller lists can be insightful. Even if you think your cover is fine or better than others, in a market where 4,500 books are published daily, "fine" isn't enough. Letting pride hinder sales is a major issue.
