Uber has discontinued its operations in Nigeria after 12 years in the country.
The company entered Nigeria in 2014, first launching in Lagos before expanding to Abuja and other cities.
Uber said the decision followed a review of its evolving business priorities and investment focus across Africa.
The company said the withdrawal from Nigeria and Uganda would not affect its other African operations.
The exit comes amid a highly competitive Nigerian ride-hailing market and years of challenges involving fuel costs, inflation and operating expenses.

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma conducted operations in Zamfara and Kaduna States on September 2, 2026.
In Zamfara, troops ambushed terrorists around Kwanar Jolof and reportedly neutralised scores of them.
They recovered an RPG launcher, RPG bomb, AK-47 rifle, six magazines and 106 rounds of ammunition, among other items.
In Kaduna, troops intercepted a vehicle along the Saulawa-Zaria Road. A passenger reportedly resisted a search and attempted to escape.
A subsequent search allegedly uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside garri.
The military said the operations are aimed at disrupting terrorist networks and the movement of weapons.

𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗡𝗣𝗖'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝘆 ₦𝟭.𝟯 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻
NNPC Limited's revenue dropped from ₦4.39 trillion in June to ₦3.09 trillion in July 2026—a decline of about ₦1.3 trillion.
Its profit after tax also fell from ₦535 billion to ₦279 billion.
NNPC attributed the production decline to operational disruptions, including facility outages, equipment problems, pipeline incidents and other production constraints.
Crude oil and condensate production fell from 1.72 million barrels per day in June to 1.68 million barrels per day in July.
However, there is also a positive development: NNPC says the OB3 gas pipeline is ready for first gas, while the AKK pipeline has reached 95% completion.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has warned that artificial intelligence-generated disinformation could seriously threaten the credibility of Nigeria's 2027 elections.
INEC says generative AI can now create convincing fake audio, videos and images capable of misleading voters.
The commission disclosed that it is auditing its electoral technology systems and is considering a mock presidential election to test its preparedness ahead of 2027.
INEC also wants a rapid-response mechanism capable of countering false information within the same news cycle.
The warning comes as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The Federal Workers Forum has written to President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly demanding an immediate review of federal workers' salaries.
The group wants the minimum wage increased from ₦70,000 to ₦300,000, while proposing ₦1.5 million as the salary for Level 17 officers.
The workers argue that rising food, transport, accommodation, electricity and cooking-gas costs have made the current wage inadequate.
They also allege that the full consequential adjustment and related allowances arising from the 2024 wage increase have not been completely implemented.
