Female ge***al mutilation
(A Grave Danger)
This is the partial or total removal of the female ge***al organ simply to satisfy myths and cultural beliefs. such as preventing the girl child from being promiscous and tame her s*xuality
Amongst societal and cultural issues that does affects women. (FGM) is a serious issue that is not disscused enough.
More than 200 million girls and women alive today have been cut in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia where FGM is concentrated . FGM is mostly carried out on young girls between infancy and age 15
FGM has no health benefits but only leads long term or short term physical health issues such as; Urinary tract infection, menstrual problems, child birth complications and many more.
It also leads to developing phsycological and emotional problems such as; Anxiety disorder, PTSD, Depression and the likes.
Types of Female Ge***al Mutilation
Incision refers to making cuts in the cl****is or cutting free the cl****al prepuce, but it also relates to incisions made in the vaginal wall and to incision of the perineum and the symphysis.
Deinfibulation refers to the practice of cutting open a woman who has been infibulated to allow in*******se or to facilitate childbirth.
Reinfibulation is the practice of sewing the external l***a back together after deinfibulation.
This is a gross violation of the human rights of the girl child. It still an ongoing practice in local communities and places. It's necessary the conversation is sparked up.
