Things that police can NOT arrest you for.
The police are only responsible for the prevention and detection of crimes and the apprehension of offenders. Other actions that are not exclusive to the police are not to be trapped by them.
Here are common actions where the Nigerian police are prohibited from arresting anyone;
✅Recovery of debt, outstanding debt, failure to pay loan or where transaction is purely commercial. Police are not DEBT collectors. Do not allow anyone intimidate you.
✅ Matrimonial disputes like divorce proceedings, custody and maintenance. Police have no business. Stop shining eyes for your partner.
✅ Landlord tenant disputes; your landlord can never arrest you because you are owing rent or where there is a disagreements over tenancy terms, or unauthorized occupation in a premises. This can only happen where there is physical v!0ence or a court order is breached.
✅ Defamation, The act of damaging a person's reputation, this have exceptional circles if treated purely as a civil suit for damages.
✅Breach of contract, such as failure to fulfill the terms of a contract which includes a business agreement or a service contract.
✅Breach of marriage promise. If your supposed partner or boyfriend or girlfriend dissapoint you, go to court and file action for damages.
✅Trespass to land or unauthorized entry into a private property where there is no destruction of property or threat of v!0lence.
✅Where a person paid for an item or service but it was not delivered and no criminal intent can be proven.
✅Partnership disputes, disagreements among business partners regarding profit-sharing, management, or dissolution.
✅Inheritance disputes, where there is conflicts over the division of a deceased person's property. It is strictly family and private affairs.
✅Mortgage disputes and disagreements over a loan secured by property, including foreclosures or terms of repayment.
✅Action for Injunction, requesting for a court order compelling a party to do or refrain from doing a specific act. For example , stop building , cultivating, polluting, etc.
✅Interfering with contract relationships, it involves a third party improperly causing one party to a contract to breach that contract with the other party. Example, dispatch rider in-between a vendor and a customer.
The only time that police can interfere is where there is a criminal element and they must be ready to prove it.
