LIBERAL CNN NOW OWNED BY RIGHT WINGER

Paramount emerged as the victor in the months-long battle for Warner Bros Discovery after Netflix backed out of the bidding war on Thursday, leaving Paramount poised to acquire Warner’s vast media empire, including CNN.

Netflix said it has “declined to raise its offer for Warner Bros.” after the Warner Bros. Discovery board determined that Paramount has submitted a “superior” offer for the media giant.

“The deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid,” the streamer said, suddenly ending the corporate tug-of-war.

With that announcement, Paramount suddenly moved much closer to taking over CNN, HBO, and the rest of the assets owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, or WBD for short.

KEEPING YOUR YAM WITH THE NNPC GOAT... Waziri Adio on PIA and President Tinubu Executive Order 9

President Bola Tinubu deserves all the accolades he is getting for starting the process of curing some of the defects of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) of 2021. The omnibus petroleum law remains a landmark piece of legislation and a major legacy of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. But the PIA has gaps which should not be unexpected for a law that took more than 20 years to get over the line and for a bulky legislation with 319 sections and eight schedules. However, some of these gaps are too significant to be glossed over. The president has earned his stripes for having the stomach to go ahead with the corrective measures outlined in the executive order unveiled last week. He should stay the course and even go farther.

It is a miracle that some of the defects of the PIA were allowed to stand for this long: they are at odds with the constitution, the highest law of the land, and they unduly favour the national oil company, NNPC Limited, at the expense of its owner, the Federation. Pre-PIA, the relationship between the Federation and its oil corporation was bedevilled by a pronounced principal-agent problem. The agent could easily be mistaken for the principal. For all its strengths, the PIA did little to address this problem. Rather, the law further complicated the challenge by handing massive material advantage to the agent. Post-PIA, the agent effectively upstaged the principal.

NAF NEUTRALISE SCORES OF BANDITS, DISMANTLE THEIR LOGISTICS BASE IN SHIRORO

The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (AC OPFY) has recorded another significant achievement in its counter-terrorism campaign, neutralising scores of bandits and dismantling their logistics base at Alawa Forest in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to a statement by the Director, Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Airforce Headquarters,
AVM Olusola Akinboyewa, the operation conducted on 21 January 2025 was based on credible intelligence and follow-up confirmatory aerial surveillance efforts which indicated an influx of armed terrorists into the forest.

These criminals, he said, "were linked to widespread violence, including two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks on 19 December 2024 in Bassa, Shiroro LGA, which claimed several innocent lives."

The statement continued, "In response, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched a three-day sustained air operation, code-named KONAN DAJI, to degrade the terrorists’ capabilities and render the forest unhabitable for them.

"To this end, AC OPFY dispatched a formation of fighter aircraft to execute air interdiction missions in the area. Upon arrival, the jets swiftly engaged the identified targets with precision strikes, neutralising numerous armed fighters and destroying their logistics base, as confirmed by multiple secondary explosions.

"The NAF, in close coordination with ground forces, remains resolute in its commitment to maintaining operational dominance across the region. Sustained efforts are underway to eliminate all criminal elements from Alawa Forest and surrounding areas, ensuring lasting peace and security for communities in Niger State and beyond.

MAKE A DEAL WITH UKRAINE NOW OR ELSE, DONALD TRUMP TELLS PUTIN

Donald Trump stepped up the pressure on Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to make a peace deal with Ukraine Wednesday, threatening tougher economic measures if Moscow does not agree to end the war.

Trump’s warning in a Truth Social post came as the Republican seeks a quick solution to a grinding conflict that he had promised to end before even starting his second term.

“If we don’t make a ‘deal,’ and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries,” Trump said.

Trump said he was “not looking to hurt Russia” and had “always had a very good relationship with President Putin,” a leader for whom he has expressed admiration in the past.

“All of that being said, I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR. Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE.”

He added: “Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with! We can do it the easy way, or the hard way – and the easy way is always better. It’s time to ‘MAKE A DEAL.'”

'FIRST BUDDY' ELON MUSK GIVEN OFFICE IN WHITE HOUSE COMPLEX.

Musk has been given an office in the White House complex for his department of government efficiency (Doge) in the latest sign of his closeness to Donald Trump.

According to a New York Times report cited by Daily Telegraph, the SpaceX founder has reportedly been assigned space in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which Musk has been given an office in the White House complex for his department of government efficiency (Doge) in the latest sign of his closeness to Donald Trump.

The SpaceX founder has reportedly been assigned space in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which located next to the West Wing, and houses a majority of offices for White House staff.

Also known as EEOB, it is an impressive building that commands a unique position in American national history and architectural heritage.
It was originally built for the State, War, and Navy Departments between 1871 and 1888.

Mr Musk, who is so close to Mr Trump that he has been dubbed the “First Buddy” by Lara Trump, the president-elect’s daughter-in-law, is still said to be in discussions about what level of access he will have to the West Wing and how formal his position will be.

The move risks further alienating the president-elect’s supporters who have become suspicious of Mr Musk, the richest man in the world, who donated $250 million to help Mr Trump win the election.

It also raises further questions about whether or not Mr Musk will have to comply with personal financial disclosures like ordinary employees.
