In 2020, we wanted to bring David Raya to the Emirates Stadium when Brentford was still a Championship team but we were unsuccessful after a number of failed bids. Our current goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana is also very familiar with Raya having coached him before.

Aaron Ramsdale was the alternative option because the club was unable to get David Raya. Many fans were unhappy thinking that we had spent 30 million euros to bring a goalkeeper who was only a substitute for Bernd Leno but by then everyone knew the German goalkeeper was in the process of leaving the Emirates Stadium.

As the British goalkeeper is getting too comfortable with the number 1 shirt, Arsenal need a new name to boost competition for him in the squad.

The message is supposed to be clear: At Arsenal, no one is irreplaceable. Once a player stops trying and stop showing improvement, that's when their place will go to more deserving players. This will be good for both the player and the team.
