ELECTIONEERING IN NIGERIA:A GAME OF WHOT PLAYED BY GAMBLERS.
How would you and I save up enough confident,hope,expectation,energy in the next election four years deciding what may be all wasted or gained,that would be epic right?
'Though it's every citizens right to be vote and be voted for;it's rather not mandatory'.The moment you hold the ballot paper at the polling booth to cast your vote,remember you are a gambler;you have an opponent that is aspirant from the opposimg parties.
The first thought that supposed to come to your mind should be;the last card I played-how did it go?
The prominet parties we placing high odds for are APC and PDP.That were most of us get it wrong.They are supposed to watch how we play the game and lean on us,rather we choose to be used.Theu played the card indirectly using THREAT making the gambler leaning on them.The 36 state in Nigeria is been elected by the two voters and political parties but rulers by one.
In 2016 Mr Obaseki was the governor elect of Edo state under the rulling All progressive congress (APC),while his main opponent Osagie Ize-iyanmu,was under the umbrella of the main opposition,People's Democratic Party (PDP).
In 2020 governorship race,the card changes.Mr Obaseki now runs under the umbrella of the main opposition,PDP,while Mr Ize iyanmu goes under the umbrella of the APC.
In 2018 Adullahi Umar Ganduje a member of All progressive congress(APC) was allegedly involve in a 5million dollars allegation petition by the Kano state of Assembly.A Kano High Court presided over by Justice A.T. Badamasi in Kano granted an Order of Injunction restraining Kano State House of Assembly Investigative Committee from further investigating the $5m bribery allegations involving Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Mr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje contested for governorship post under the All progressive congress (APC).Upon the alleged bribery was Involve in,failure to pay his workers,issues of incompetency,he knew the tactics and won the election.
Mr Yahaya Bello of All progressive congress (APC) during the 2020 was accused by his fellow aspirant during the primary election the "insecurity in Kogi even as they accused the governor of complicity in the distribution of arms among the youths. “There is a big issue of insecurity in the state as almost every young unemployed Kogi boy has an AK 47 rifle and a pump action gun. We have cried and shouted but nobody is doing anything about it. The people being shot, the people being killed are Kogi boys. (It will be good) If there is a way to retrieve all these guns that the government has distributed across the entire state,” they further said They labelled Mr yahaya Bello incompetent, saying his failure to pay workers shows that he is unfit to continue in office. “The whole world has now seen that he lacks the ability to govern even a local government not to talk of a state. Whether you like it or not, it is immaterial. The man has no competence.“Can you imagine not being paid for one year? Even High Court judges are being owed 12 months salaries in Kogi state. The man has no standard and he still wants to come back by using guns to shoot himself back to Government House, Lokoja. We won’t allow it!.After knowing his incompetency during 2015-2019 tenure in office he won the 2020 election in kogi state.
One of the gamblers that is the voters have a have a special card called HOLD ON (elect new representative) but they don't know how to play the card when needed.The people of Kano and Kogi suppose to use the HOLD ON card during 2020 election to change its leadershipz,but failed to use it.
President Muhammadu Buhari was elected as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the party of All Progressive Congress (APC) during 2015 election.During 2019 election gamblers failed to remember Mr Buhari manifesto;ban on all government officials seeking medical care abroad, one free meal(to include fruits daily,for public primary school pupils),at least one functioning airport is available in each 36state,establishment at least six new universities of science and technology with satellite campuses on various state.The HOLD ON card was a perfect card to use during the 2019 election by one of the gamblers choosing new representative into office.
The PICK TWO (INEC officials and the Nigeria police force) is the whistle blower during election in Nigeria.One of the gambler(Voters) depend on them in order to conduct free and fair election across the country but turn out to be the source manipulating vote,unable to protect citizens vote and live at the polling unit,that one of the reason we have high rate of political aparthy in the country cause citizens don't have the assurance they will be safe during election.
The GENERAL MARKET (Protest/revolution/resistance) card is the most powerful a gambler can use after realizing our flaws,we mobilize ourselves to demand for a better government,better education system,job opportunities etc.Resistance is not a one lane highway.Maybe your lane is protesting,maybe your lane is organizing,maybe your lane is counselling,maybe your lane is art of activism,maybe your lane is surviving the day.Do not feel guilty for not occupying every lane,we need all of them.
Nigeria go better no be by mouth,know your lane cause we taking the land filled with milk and honey back,both home and abroad.
