The "Cosby Show" Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies at 54 years

Malcolm-Jamal Warner of the Cosby Show has met a tragic demise in Costa Rica at the age of 54 years.

Sources alleged that Warner died as a result of an accidental drowning when he was on vacation with his daughter.

Warner died of asphyxia after he was caught by a high current in the ocean, according to ABC News. His body was reportedly found Sunday afternoon.

At mid noon, Malcolm was rescued by bystanders and taken to the shore where he received aid from the Costa Rican Red Cross.

He was however declared dead at the scene. The body was sent to the Judicial Morgue in San Joaquín de Flores, Heredia for an autopsy.

Malcolm‑Jamal Warner was a child star who grossed the 1980's as Theodore Huxtable on "The Cosby Show," earning an Emmy nod and etching in his name forever in TV royalty.

Lagos Nigeria, First African City To Host Electric Power Boat Racing Championship

Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that Lagos state will make history as the first African city to host the prestigious E1 Racing Championship in October 2025.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, Gov. Sanwo-Olu shared highlights of his visit to Monaco and the main focus of the championship which is sustainability and marine preservation.

“This weekend, we were in Monaco experiencing the E1 Racing Championship. It was a good reminder of how innovation, determination, and bold ideas can come together to create something truly groundbreaking,” the governor wrote.

The E1 Championship is the world’s officially recognized first and only electric powerboat racing series, aimed at promoting sustainable marine mobility.

“I’m proud to share that Lagos will become the first African city to host the E1 Championship on October 4th and 5th, 2025. That’s a major milestone for the sport and for what it says about our city", he said.
“This is an opportunity to show the world what makes Lagos special, our culture, our energy, and our people. It’s a chance to welcome visitors, share our stories, and highlight the incredible potential of our city,” he added.

The governor also expressed appreciation to Afreximbank for its support in making the hosting possible.

Concluding his message, Sanwo-Olu said the city was poised to deliver a landmark event: “We’re bringing a world-class sporting event to our shores, we’re opening a new chapter for Lagos and I can’t wait for the world to see what we have to offer.”

Nigeria Qualifies for Wafcon Semi-finals, Beats Zambia 5-0

Nigeria gallantly made their way into the semi finals of 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations with a solid statement 5-0 victory over the Zambian team in Casablanca.

The superfalcons had only scored once in their final two Group B games and coach Justin Madugu made up to six changes from the 0-0 draw they had with Algeria on Sunday.

The Copper Queens got disappointed by both their set-piece delivery and their crossing from open play, with Super Falcons keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie moving outside her area to clear any danger.

Banda created Zambia's only opening of the first half, breezing past a defender on the left and cutting back to Chanda, who could not connect from the far 12 yards.

Ogun State, Awujale Family Threatened With Lawsuit By Ifa Council

The International Council For Ifa Religion, on Saturday, threatened to sue the government of Ogun State and the family of Oba Sikiru Adetona, the late Awujale of Ijebuland.

The legal suits is regarding their fierce and disgraceful violation of the legally acceptable and laid down traditional rites stipulated for burying a traditional ruler in the state.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by ICIR President, Fayemi Fakayode; Public Relations Officer, Ayanladun Fajemisin and the Legal representative of the group, Ifasola Opeodu, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Recall that Union Television reported Late Oba Adetona went to be with his ancestors, on July 13, 2025 at the age of 91.

He was also buried according to Islamic rites while traditionalist from Osogbo were chased away from the burial ceremony by the military.

University of Maiduguri renamed after Late Ex President Buhari

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State as the Muhammadu Buhari University.

Tinubu mentioned this at the close of a special session of the Federal Executive Council held in honour of the late ex president at A*o Rock Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
He said “May we now adopt the University of the Maduguri as the Muhammadu Buhari University,”

Just before that announcement, the President paid a glowing tribute to Buhari, describing him as “a good man, a decent man, an honourable man” whose legacy of discipline, patriotism, and moral uprightness would endure for long generations.

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, and his Chief HR Kristin Cabot has gone viral after being caught on camera cuddling and loving up at a Coldplay concert, sparking affair rumours.

The Chris Martin’s kiss cam backfired when it landed unexpectedly on the multi billionaire tech CEO, by the name Andy Byron and his mistress Kristin Cabot, who happened to be the Chief HR Manager of his tech company.

Andy Byron was snuggling up to his company’s HR boss while his longtime wife and partner, a NASA astronomer, watched from home.

Nigerian Air Force Set to Acquire 49 Jets

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has declared that the Nigerian Air Force is about to significantly expand its aerial fleet with the acquisition of 49 state-of-the-art aircraft by the end of of the year 2026.

This he disclosed on Wednesday while speaking at the opening of the 2025 Aircraft Engineering Conference held at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
The conference is themed, “Enhancing Aircraft Serviceability in the NAF through Strong Maintenance Culture and Strategic Partnerships.”

As Air Marshal Abubakar revealed, the expected additions include three CASA 295 transport aircraft, 10 AW-109 Trekker Type B helicopters, 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters, and 24 M-346 fighter aircraft, all of which are high-tech platforms requiring advanced and sophisticated maintenance procedures.

“These aircraft are all high-tech platforms that require very sophisticated maintenance activities to operate effectively,” the CAS said, stressing the need for NAF personnel to embrace “advanced, innovative, and data-driven aircraft and armament maintenance practices."

Queen Camila Celebrates 78th Birthday Today

Today, the 17th of July, 2025 marks the 78th birthday of the queen consort of United Kingdom, Queen Camilla.

About this time last year, the Queen was on duty on her birthday when she attended the State Opening of Parliament with King Charles III, but her birthday this year is expected to be spent privately.

In addition to this, the Queen celebrated her 20th wedding anniversary to King Charles, who is still being treated for cancer.

Since then, the pair have had a busy few months of high profile engagements, including hosting a state visit by the French President Emmanuel Macron last week, attending Trooping the Colour in June, and visiting Canada for the opening of the country's parliament in May.

This week, the Queen also visited a children's hospice in Devon and HMS Astute, a nuclear-powered submarine, in Plymouth.

A special holder gift was given to her to mark her birthday by the Commander of HMS Astute, Christopher Bate. The wrapping was used to fix a defect in the amain engines of the submarine, Bate explained.

In recognition of her support of the Royal Navy, Queen Camila was appointed a Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom.

Nigerian Police Planned Protest

Members of the Nigerian Police force are allegedly planning a staged protest.

The former presidential aspirant and activist, Omoyele Sowore was quoted during an interview live on TV, he said; "Yes, they arrested some policemen especially those with WhatsApp groups and we are working to get them released.
The police men are most determined to get this matter resolved and if it is not, they are ready to act."

He continued; "The mistake that the Police Authorities at the high up levels are making is to think that it is the retired police officers who are agitating.
The policemen who are ready to act on July 21st and another protest planned for August 1 are mostly serving police men".

"How do you survive as a police man being paid #57,000 monthly for 35 years and your highest salary is #147,000?
How do you survive on a #35,000 pensions after 35 years of service. How do you pay children's school fees, hospital bills and so on? He said.

The agitation among the police force personnel is largely due to merger salary payment. Most of which bitter complaint of salary underpayment, almost equal to being unemployed compared to the risk the job comes with.
This is rampant and consistent complaint among most members of the police force.

The remains of the Ex President Muhammadu Buhari has been laid to rest in Daura, his home town today.

The Present President and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu bids him farewell as he walks behind the ex presidents casket.

In a emotional tone, the president while bending down to honour the late president said; "Good bye dear friend, I will not betray our union.."

The Ex President's remains was flown in from London and headed straight to his home town where he was buried today.
