Bayelsa Deputy Governor Slumps in Office-Dies at FMC, Sympathizers Suspect Foul play

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, died yesterday after slumping while descending the stairs in his office.

He was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa where Hospital sources claimed he arrived unconscious and was moved from the Emergency Unit to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), attempts to revive him proved abortive.

Reports has it that Ewhrudjakpo, once a close political ally of Governor Diri, allegedly had misunderstanding with the Governor after refusing to follow him in defecting from PDP to APC...

The United States Forces seized a sanctioned oil tanker close to the coast of Venezuela which has resulted in increased oil prices between Washington and Caracas.

World AIDS Day Awareness Intensify as Infection Rates Increases Nationwide

The last week had the World Aids Day celebrated across major healthcare facilities in Nigeria with the theme: Collective action, sustain and accelerate HIV programs.

The major highlights of the Walk for Aids Awareness included sensitization of the public about the importance of knowing their HIV status, staying faithful to one partner, using a condom, both female and male condoms.

The NAIIS further shows that South-South of the country has the highest prevalence with Akwa Ibom having the highest prevalence rate of HIV in Nigeria with rate of 5.5%, followed by Benue State, which has about 5.3% prevalence rate.

HIV prevalence is also high in the North Central (2.0%) and in the South East (1.9%). In the South West, the virus’ prevalence is lower at 1.1%, while it is 1.1% in the North East and 0.6%...
