KANU: Imo Police Invite Uwazuruike To Appear Before Anti-Kidnapping Unit On Monday
Uwazuruike has been invited by the İmo State Police Command to appear before it , on Monday, in a bid to frustrate him from joining the planned Nationwide peaceful protest to demand the release of the detained leader of indigenous people of Biafra ,IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.
The BIM-MASSOB leader, had on 0ctober 8, 2025, in a viral video volunteered to be part of the legal teams in a peaceful protest at freezing the detained leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Ralph Uwazuruike Esq, founder of MASSOB and BIM, according to a statement signed on his behalf by his Director of information, Mazi Chris Mocha, is to appear before the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Owerri on Monday, 20th October 2025 — the same date the planned Nationwide protest by civil society groups was scheduled to take place.
The Police invitation, dated 16th October, 2025 and signed by the Commissioner of Police, cited an investigation into an alleged “Criminal Invasion, Forgery, and Wilful Damage.
Uwazuruike was instructed to report at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit by 10:00 AM, with contact officers listed as ASP John Ebute, ASP Eze Jet, and Inspector Alice Zakari, respectively.
Speaking on October 8, 2025, Uwazuruike said;:
“I will be part of any peaceful protest for Nnamdi Kanu’s release. This is not about Kanu alone; this is about our collective dignity as a people.
On the invitation to appear on Monday, he said;
"I have no problem with the police invitation. it is clear the police invitation was intended to prevent me from joining the planned peaceful protest on Monday 20th.
I still remain firm, calm and unshaken", he concluded.
Uwazuruike who has long championed non-violence as the guiding philosophy of Self-determination for Biafra, further emphasized that his support for the protest as a lawyer is rooted in conscience, not conflict.
