POSSESING THE GATES OF YOUR ENEMIES

TODAY’S QUOTE: DARKNESS CANNOT WITHSTAND LIGHT

Scriptural Verse: “That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies” (Genesis 22:17).

God made a promise to Abraham that his seed shall possess the gates of his enemies. That seed is Christ, and you are in Christ. You are Abraham’s seed according to the promise. It is in you to triumph over the works of darkness. There is a mandate of God over your life to spoil the kingdom of darkness. Hell has never created a problem that God could not solve. Darkness cannot withstand light There is a light in you that shines and darkness cannot comprehend. The Light in You defeated and destroyed the works of darkness (Hebrews 2:14-15).

To Peter he said, “Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you but my Father which is in heaven.” I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail. There are two things to note here. The first is that the gates of hell is not going to prevail against the church, so by default, the church is going to prevail against the gates of hell. Now the gates of hell refers to the strategies and schemes of the enemy and God is saying that it is not going to work or prosper in your life.

The second is that through the revealed knowledge of God’s word, the church is going to possess the gates of her enemies. You are a part of the body of Christ and by the knowledge of what Christ has made you to be in his death, burial and resurrection it has made you unmanageable by the devil. Truly, greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The Apostle Peter was thrown into jail. The church prayed and at night in what seemed like a vision Peter saw himself delivered. As he approached the gates of the enemy, it opened of its own accord. The things that fight with you shall surrender themselves to you this season of their own accord. You will not need to fight in this battle. Victory is yours. The result was determined on the cross of calvary and Jesus has paid it all.

Dear God, our Heavenly Father, I just want to thank you for your endless love for me. You have been there for me far before I knew of you or even thought of coming to you. I will forever thank you for that precious act of love, where you gave up your Son so that I could be a part of you again. Jesus, my Savior, thank you for what you did for me and for everyone else on this earth. Thank you for this beautiful life I now have in you, Lord. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God, I know that there will be times in my life where I will make a number of mistakes. There will be times where the decisions I thought were right, will actually be wrong. Father, I ask for help to remain humble so that I can take correction from those around me May I be one to act on the correction I receive, so that I can avoid any unnecessary consequences. This I pray, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Dear God, I desire to express the love you have given me to my fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord. Father, help me to be attentive to their needs and their struggles so I can be a helping hand, ready to assist wherever I can. May I never be influenced or carried away by my selfish desires, Father. Did you ever wonder what went through Abraham's mind when he believed that God wanted him to sacrifice his son? Of course, at that particular time in history, sacrifice of the first-born was not unusual and seen as an offering to the gods who would then allow the rest of the children to live. Did Abraham think that God was like the other gods? We will never know in this world. But God did not want sacrifice in the flesh, but sacrifice in the heart. Abraham was prevented from sacrificing Isaac and was given a ram instead, and for his willingness was promised great blessings. What are we willing to sacrifice for God?

Today, in America, we celebrate our independence. Many men and women sacrificed a great deal for this to happen and many people all over the world have sacrificed a great deal for their independence, independence from tyranny, independence to practice their religion, freedom from fear. Isaac was freed so that he could become the father of Esau and Jacob and thereby the grandfather of Israel. Jesus has freed us, has given us independence from the tyranny of law by giving us the law of love to follow. He has freed us so that we might experience the joys of eternal life. We all have much to celebrate today no matter where we live, so let us thank God for freedom.
