I have read and listened to the question raised by Sheriffdeen Ojon Olorunfemi and I know I am in a better position to answer his questions and concerns.
I am Chief Babajide Tanimowo, a Legal Practitioner and the National General Secretary of OPC led by Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams.
To set the record straight, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams has contributed immensely to the security architecture in Nigeria right from the annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential election won by M.K.O Abiola till date apart from the Cultural promotion through Olokun Festival Foundation as the Chief Promoter.
However, the organisation had assisted Yoruba people in the time past and saved several people's lives when armed robbers and miscreants took over the security of the South West States, most especially in Lagos State. Till date, members of OPC were engaged by private individuals and some government agencies to combat crimes and protect lives and properties. The fact speak for itself and history will judge everyone of us.
Consequently, when he became the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba Land, in his magnanimity and without being paid by any private individuals or government agencies till date, he wrote letter on several occasions to the South West Governors on his willingness to assist them to combat crime and banditry in Yoruba Land, which led to the creation of Amotekun in most South West States and it is on record that most of the personnel in Amotekun are active members of OPC led by him.
Thus, when the Fulani herdsmen were terrorising Ibarapa axis, he initiated plans and actions that led to the arrest of the notorious warlord, Wakili and our members who arrested Wakili unarmed spent almost 4 months in police custody and correctional centre at Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State before the DPP advice came out and exonerated them. The lesson learnt from this is that if you don't take permission from the appropriate authorities to defend your people, who might be charged for murder or other associated offences which are capital offences, hence experience is the best teacher and once beaten twice alerted.
Whereas, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Edgar sought the assistant of Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams to flush out the criminal gang known as Baddoo in Ikorodu, it took him less than 72 hours to put an end to Baddoo menace and his intervention at Abule Ado when the military personnel sought his permission to flush out criminal gangs and kidnappers wherein several guns were recovered and handed over to the military to mention a few of his numerous assistance to Yoruba people.
Furthermore, he recently wrote to the government on his readiness to assist the security agencies to combat crimes and he gave 6 months to deliver this tasks and same was jettisoned by the government, despite giving vital and credible information to government about the menace of the criminals and their hideouts.
I will advice you to be objective in your criticism and do a thorough research before casting aspersions on his personality.
In conclusion, he has contributed his quota in Yoruba Land and he is the Convener of Oodua Progressive Union which is proudly sponsored by him and it has branches in 103 countries of the world, so it is not about funfair or moneymaking, because I personally witnessed the event in Napoli, Italy.
