Aholu Agano Toniyon 1 Urges Youth to Embrace Their Roots at Agamathen Traditional Festival

The Aholu of Ajara Agamathen Kingdom, HRM Aholu Agano Toniyon 1, has called on the people of the kingdom, particularly the younger generation, to reconnect with their cultural heritage and uphold the traditions handed down by their forefathers.
The monarch made the call during the Traditional Festival Day of Agamathen Kingdom, held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the shrine of Agamathen Kingdom.
Speaking at the colourful celebration, Aholu Agano Toniyon 1 stressed the importance of going back to the roots and preserving the customs and traditions that define the identity of the people.
According to the monarch, culture remains an important part of a people's history and identity, noting that the younger generation must understand where their forefathers came from and ensure that such heritage is not lost.
He particularly advised the youth not to take their ancestral background for granted, urging them to learn about their history, respect their traditions and pass the knowledge on to future generations.

9-Days Spiritual Prayers Held in Honour of Late Akran of Badagry
A 9-days spiritual prayer session was held on Wednesday, 21st January 2026, at the Palace in Badagry, in honour of the late De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi I, OFR, LLD, D.Litt, JP, the revered Akran of Badagry.
The solemn event, organised as part of the final rites and condolence activities for the departed monarch, drew eminent personalities from across Lagos State and beyond. His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, attended the prayers alongside his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to pay their last respects and commiserate with the royal family and the good people of Badagry.
Also present were top government functionaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, chiefs, and Baales from various communities, who gathered to honour the life, legacy, and service of the late Akran. The atmosphere at the palace was solemn yet reflective, as prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul.

Badagry Kingdom has been thrown into deep mourning following the passing of its revered paramount ruler, His Majesty De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I (OFR, LLD, DLitt, JP), the Akran of Badagry.
