Your attitude is your greatest sales tool.

A customer once came to me wanting to buy bags and shoes but she wanted a discount I simply had not the authority to give. She was ready to walk away.
I could have said "sorry, nothing I can do."
Instead, I told her honestly:
"You deserve a discount. It is currently not within my power to apply one, but I will send feedback to management so that next time you come, a discount will be applied to your purchase."
She went quiet for a moment.
Then she said "It is because of your attitude that I am going to make this purchase."
She bought everything.
No discount. No pressure. Just honesty, respect, and the genuine intention to help.
Here is what I learned that day:
Customers don't just buy products. They buy how you make them feel. When you treat people with dignity even when you cannot give them what they want they trust you. And trust closes more deals than discounts ever will.
Your attitude is not just a soft skill. It is a business strategy.

The Door That Was Always Open

Adaeze had been selling fabrics in Onitsha market for six years when her cousin called from Lagos with life-changing news.
"A fintech company is hiring remote customer support reps. Good pay. No degree just computer skills."
Her heart leapt. Then sank.
Computer skills.
She knew WhatsApp. She knew how to post on Instagram. But a computer felt like a language not meant for her. So she passed the opportunity to her friend Ngozi, who had recently spent two months learning Google Workspace at a digital skills centre.
Ngozi applied. Ngozi got the job.
Adaeze watched and finally enrolled.
She learned Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Meet. Three months later, she interviewed for a virtual assistant role. The interviewer asked her to share a document in real time.
She did it in eleven seconds. She got the job.
The door into tech was never locked. Most people just didn't know where the handle was.
You don't need to write code to work in tech but you must know how to function in a digital environment. Google Workspace, basic typing, file management these are not the ceiling. They are the floor.
The tools are free. The courses are free.
The only thing missing is your decision to begin.
