A Dangerous Game of Trust
Ever trusted the wrong person? Here’s a true story about trust and betrayal. What would you do in this situation? Read till the end!
There was this attractive guy who smelled nice. He came up to me and asked for my number. I felt happy inside. Two days later, I didn’t hear from him. I had to call him. When I did, I asked, “Why haven’t you called me?” He apologized and said he wasn’t financially stable at the moment. He told me he was broke and just trying to figure things out. I thought, “No way.” I’m independent and comfortable, so I didn’t need what he was worried about. Even so, he still did some things a broke guy wouldn’t do. He sent me airtime and even bought me food. I thought maybe he had some money after all.
I asked him for a pair of shoes that cost 30,000 naira. Two days later, he sent me the money. I was surprised. Then I started asking him for more things. When I asked for a new phone, he questioned what was wrong with my current one. I told him I just wanted it as a birthday gift. He agreed, saying it was fine.
That same week, I was kidnapped. They called him using my phone and told him they had me. They demanded a ransom of 10 million. He replied that he couldn’t come up with that kind of money. I told him I didn’t know what to do. I had already called my parents, and they were running around trying to help. He asked if I had any money with me. I said I had about 3.8 million naira, which was my life savings. My parents managed to raise about one million. So, we had around 4.8 million naira. Then they started negotiating with the kidnappers. It was brutal for me.
When I was finally released, I was really angry. How could he just stand by when I needed help? He didn’t contribute anything for my release. I called him and told him he couldn’t raise a single naira. Do you know what he said? He claimed he had money but wanted to save it for the phone I asked for as a birthday gift.
I told him I couldn’t deal with this anymore. Two days later, I received a call from a new number. I answered, asking who it was. He said he was Samson Solomon, which was my boyfriend’s name. I asked him what he wanted.
He said he didn’t want anything. He claimed I wanted love, and once I found a little comfort, I turned it into a business. He forced me to make him do things he didn’t want to do just because he loved me. I told him that wasn't true; he just wasn’t man enough. Then he said he had videos of me crying and pleading. He claimed I couldn’t do anything without him since he was out of the picture. He admitted he was behind my kidnapping and said he had already sent my parents 1.8 million naira back before hanging up.
