Just heard about Broda Shaggi and honestly it hit different.
This is a man who wakes up every day with one mission — to make Nigerians laugh. To give people a reason to smile in a country where the weight of everyday life can be suffocating. And while doing his job, he was shot.
But here’s what nobody talks about ….. the sacrifices creatives in Nigeria make just to show up.
The long hours behind the scenes that nobody sees. The money spent on production before a single naira comes back. The mental energy of constantly creating in an environment where people are stressed, frustrated, and often looking for the nearest available outlet for their anger. And somehow, creatives become that outlet.
A skit is misread as an insult. A post is twisted into a controversy. A joke becomes a debate. Because when people are carrying pain they haven’t processed, they project it onto whoever is most visible.
Nigerian creatives don’t just create content. They absorb the emotional weight of an entire nation and somehow still show up and deliver.
That deserves more respect than we give it.
Wishing Broda Shaggi a full and speedy recovery. And to every Nigerian creative quietly sacrificing to keep showing up. 🙏🏾
I wonder who hates Broda Shaggi. How can anyone hate someone like that. Honestly, there’s just so much hate, anger, and pull-them down disease in this country.
