DAY 8: SEEDS OF GREATNESS
SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2026
TOPIC:
BREÆKING THE LIMIT OF NEGÀTIVĘ WORDS
Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) - Dæth and life are in the powęr of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
DEVOTION:
Words are seeds. When spoken repeatedly, they enter the heart, shape expectations, influence decisions, and eventually produce corresponding results.
Many people pray for progress while constantly speaking failure. They ask God for healing but describe themselves as hopeless. They desire greatness but continually announce that nothing good can happen to them.
Your words do not replace prayer, preparation, or responsible action. However, your words reveal and reinforce what you believe. Jesus taught that the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
The Israelites said they would die in the wilderness, and their words reflected the unbelief that prevented them from entering the Promised Land. Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants, but their confession was different. They declared that they were well able to possess the land.
Stop using your mouth to strengthen the limitation you are trying to bræk. Do not constantly describe yourself as poor, rejected, unfortunate, weak, or incapable. Speak the truth of God’s Word over your life.
This does not mean ignoring difficulties. You can acknowledge a problem without surrendering to it. Instead of saying, “There is no hope,” say, “This situation is difficult, but God will give me wisdom and make a way.”
Be careful about words spoken in anger, fear, disappointment, or frustration. Do not pronounce permanent defeat during a temporary crisis.
Use your tongue to worship God, encourage others, declare Scripture, and announce your faith. Speak life over your family, health, ministry, career, finances, and future.
Your words should agree with your prayers. When negative words escape your mouth, correct them immediately. Discipline your tongue until faith-filled speech becomes your established pattern.
A new season often begins with a new confession. Speak as someone who believes that God is working.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for every negative word I have spoken. Purify my heart and sanctify my tongue. Help me to speak life, faith, wisdom, and hope. Let my words agree with Your promises concerning my destiny, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
Wisdom Quote:
Your mouth can become either a ceiling over your destiny or a ladder into your future.
