I STARTED OVER AT 40 — PART 1

I was 40 when I realized something that scared me.

I wasn't happy with the life I had built.

From the outside, everything looked fine.

I had a home.

I had a job.

I had responsibilities.

People looked at me and probably thought,

"This woman has her life together."

But nobody knew what happened when I closed my door at night.

I would sit quietly and ask myself,

“Is this really all there is for me?”

I had spent years doing what I thought I was supposed to do.

Be responsible.

Take care of everyone.

Make sacrifices.

Keep going.

Don't complain.

And somewhere along the way...

I stopped asking myself what I actually wanted.

Then one evening, I found an old photograph of myself.

I was in my twenties.

I looked at that younger woman and remembered all the things she used to dream about.

There were so many things she wanted to do.

Places she wanted to go.

Things she wanted to learn.

A life she imagined for herself.

I stared at that picture for a long time.

Then I whispered something that frightened me:

“What happened to you?”

And for the first time, I realized...

I hadn't failed at life.

I had simply spent too many years living according to everybody else's expectations.

That night, I made a decision.

I was going to start again.

At 40.

I had no idea how.

I didn't even know where to begin.

But I knew one thing...

I couldn't spend the next ten years wishing I had started today.

THE PART OF CONTENT CREATION PEOPLE DON'T SEE

Let me be honest with you…

Consistency is not as easy as it looks from the outside.

Right now, I'm trying to manage four different pages at the same time, and honestly, it has not been easy.

Every page needs attention.

Every page needs ideas.

Every page needs content.

Every page needs you to show up, even on the days when your brain is saying, “Please, just rest.” 😂

And sometimes, one page has to suffer a little because I'm trying to keep the others alive.

The Growth Corner has actually been one of those pages.

I know we haven't been as consistent here as I would have loved.

And sometimes I look at the page and I'm like, “Chimamama, you need to do better.” 😂

But I'm also learning that building something takes time.

You can't always do everything perfectly.

Sometimes you're going to fall behind.

Sometimes you're going to disappear for a little while.

Sometimes you'll have ten ideas in your head and absolutely no energy to execute any of them.

But here's the thing...

We chose this.

Nobody forced us to start creating.

Nobody forced us to build communities.

Nobody forced us to manage multiple pages.

We chose this because we believe there is something we're trying to build.

So even when it gets difficult...

we come back.

Maybe not perfectly.

Maybe not every single day.

But we come back.

I'm still learning how to balance everything.

I'm still figuring out how to create without completely exhausting myself.

And I'm still learning that consistency doesn't always mean showing up perfectly every day. Sometimes it means refusing to permanently give up when life gets busy.

So if you've been building something and you've fallen behind...

Don't throw everything away because you missed a few days.

Pick it back up.

We are still here.

The Growth Corner is still here.

And we're going to keep growing one post, one lesson, one story at a time.

If you're also trying to build something while juggling other responsibilities, tell me: what's the hardest part for you

I TRIED TWICE… AND FAILED TWICE. — PART 10

Today, when people see my business, some of them think I was lucky.

They didn't see the first attempt.

They didn't see the second.

They didn't see me sitting on my bed wondering if I was simply not good enough.

They didn't see the nights I cried because I didn't know how I was going to start again.

They only saw the part where things finally started working.

And honestly?

That's how life is sometimes.

People often meet you at the chapter where things are finally making sense.

They don't know how many pages you struggled through before they arrived.

So if you're reading this and you're currently in your own difficult chapter...

Please don't use today's situation to write the ending of your story.

Maybe you're unemployed.

Maybe your business failed.

Maybe you're starting again at an age you never imagined you'd have to start again.

Maybe everyone around you seems to be moving forward while you feel stuck.

Please breathe.

You haven't necessarily lost.

You may simply be learning something that your next chapter will require.

I tried twice.

I failed twice.

And I almost convinced myself that I wasn't meant to succeed.

But today, I know better.

Failure didn't disqualify me.

It taught me.

And starting again didn't make me weak.

It made me wiser.

So if you have to start again...

Start.

Start small.

Start scared.

Start without everybody's approval.

Just don't let one bad chapter convince you that the whole book is finished.

Your story is still being written.

And maybe...

the chapter you're crying through today will become the chapter somebody else needs to read tomorrow.

THE END. ❤️

I TRIED TWICE… AND FAILED TWICE. — PART 8

A few months later, something happened that I never expected.

Someone walked into my shop and asked:

“Are you the owner?”

I smiled and said yes.

She looked around and said,

“I've been hearing about you.”

I honestly thought she was joking.

She wasn't.

She had been referred by one of my old customers.

She bought something that day.

Then she came back.

Then she brought someone else.

And slowly, the little business I had almost given up on began to build a name for itself.

One day, I checked my records.

I realized something.

I had finally made back everything I lost from my second attempt.

I sat there quietly.

No celebration.

No loud announcement.

Just me, staring at the numbers with tears in my eyes.

Because nobody knew what those numbers meant to me.

They weren't just money.

They represented every night I cried.

Every time I questioned myself.

Every person who thought I couldn't do it.

Every time I started over.

And every time I almost quit.

That day, I finally understood something:

Sometimes the comeback doesn't look like revenge.

Sometimes it simply looks like becoming the person you once thought you could never become.

I didn't get my money back overnight.

I didn't become successful overnight.

I simply kept showing up...

until one day, my small steps finally became visible.

And that was the first time I stopped being afraid of failure.

Because now I knew...

If I fall again, I know how to stand.

“I'm not behind. I'm building.”

I TRIED TWICE… AND FAILED TWICE. — PART 7

For the first time, I stopped asking:

“When will this business finally blow?”

And started asking:

“What can I do today to make it a little better?”

That question changed the way I worked.

I stopped chasing big sales and started paying attention to the small ones.

I stopped trying to impress people and started listening to my customers.

I stopped comparing my journey with people who had been in business for years.

And most importantly...

I stopped being ashamed of starting small.

There were days I sold almost nothing.

But I didn't panic.

There were days I made mistakes.

But I didn't call myself a failure.

There were days I felt tired.

But I rested and continued.

Slowly, something began to happen.

The customers started coming back.

Then they started bringing other people.

My little business began to grow.

Not dramatically.

Not overnight.

But steadily.

And one evening, I sat down after closing for the day and looked around my shop.

It wasn't the biggest shop.

It wasn't the most beautiful.

I hadn't become rich.

But I smiled.

Because I remembered the woman who had once sat on her bed crying, convinced that she wasn't capable of building anything.

And I realized...

She would be so proud of me.

Not because I had finally made it.

But because...

I didn't let failure have the final word.

“Nobody Warned Me About This Part of Content Creation”

Nobody warned me that creating content could make you question yourself.

You post something you're proud of...

You post again...

You spend hours creating something you genuinely love...

and somehow, nobody seems to care.

Then you open Facebook and see someone else post something in five minutes and get thousands of views.

You start wondering:

"What am I doing wrong?"

"Maybe I'm not good enough."

"Maybe people don't want to hear what I have to say."

But here's something I've learned:

Views are feedback. They are not a measurement of your worth.

Sometimes your content isn't bad.

Sometimes the audience hasn't found you yet.

Sometimes the platform simply didn't push that particular post.

And sometimes...

you actually need to improve.

And that's okay too.

The goal isn't to create one perfect post.

The goal is to keep learning until you become the creator who knows what works for your audience.

Don't let one quiet post convince you to abandon the voice you've been trying so hard to build.

Keep creating. Keep studying. Keep improving.

One day, the same thing you're struggling to get people to notice may be the thing people are waiting for you to post.

This is The Growth Corner.

We're learning. We're growing. We're building.

What's the hardest part of content creation for you right now?
