Title: Midnight Friends
Under the dim streetlight by Mama Sade’s food stall, a little white dog named Zazu sat every night, waiting for scraps. Zazu was gentle but wary — life on the street had made him careful.
One rainy evening, as Zazu huddled close to the warm glow of the signboard, he heard a faint meow. Peeking out from behind a stack of crates was a small black cat with bright green eyes. She was soaked, shivering, and clearly hungry.
At first, Zazu growled softly — he had learned to guard his precious corner. But the cat didn’t flinch. Instead, she stepped closer and let out another weak meow, her eyes locked on the scraps of grilled meat Zazu hadn’t touched yet.
With a deep sigh, Zazu pushed a piece toward her with his nose. The cat — who called herself Miso — purred and devoured it gratefully. From that night on, Zazu and Miso shared their little patch of pavement.
They made a quiet deal: Zazu’s nose would sniff out the best scraps, and Miso’s quick paws would swipe them before the rats did. When the night watchman came, Miso would climb high and mew a warning, while Zazu barked just enough to distract him.
Under the flickering lights of the old signboard, the dog and the cat became the city’s smallest, fiercest team — two strays who found family in each other. And every night, if you passed Mama Sade’s stall just before dawn, you’d see them curled up together on a patch of warm concrete, dreaming of grilled meat and soft places to call home.
