Tinubu Sends 65 Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate for Confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of 65 ambassador-designates to the Senate for screening and confirmation, marking one of the most sweeping diplomatic nominations since he assumed office.

The newly released list features several prominent Nigerians, including:

Sulu-Gambari Ahmed

Sen. Grace Bent

Sen. Ita Enang
alongside 62 other nominees drawn from across the federation.

According to Presidency sources, the nominations aim to “strengthen Nigeria’s foreign representation, deepen international partnerships, and reposition the nation’s diplomatic agenda.”

The Senate is expected to begin the screening process soon, with analysts predicting intense scrutiny of political balance, professional competence, and geopolitical considerations.

If confirmed, the new ambassadors will represent Nigeria in various missions around the world and are expected to drive Tinubu’s foreign policy objectives, including economic diplomacy, security cooperation, and diaspora engagement.

Nigeria’s global mission map may look very different in the coming weeks.

NCDMB Launches $100 Million Equity Fund to Boost Local Oil Producers

In a bold move to strengthen Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has unveiled a groundbreaking $100 million equity investment fund dedicated to supporting local upstream petroleum producers.

The fund, introduced as part of the Board’s ongoing drive to promote indigenous participation, aims to provide financial backing for Nigerian-owned companies engaged in exploration, development, and production activities. According to the NCDMB, the initiative is designed to bridge funding gaps, reduce dependence on foreign capital, and accelerate growth within the country’s energy value chain.

Executive Secretary of the NCDMB highlighted that the equity fund will prioritize companies with strong technical capacity, viable assets, and long-term growth potential. He emphasized that boosting local oil production is critical for strengthening national revenue, creating jobs, and stabilizing the energy sector.

Industry experts have lauded the move as a strategic step toward achieving energy security and deepening Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry.

The fund is now open for qualified indigenous producers seeking to scale operations and contribute to Nigeria’s crude output.

Market Shake-Up: Portfolio Realignment Opens Golden Window as Stocks Hit 5-Year Low

The Nigerian equities market has entered a new phase of volatility as widespread portfolio realignments, cautious investor sentiment, and sectoral repositioning pushed major stocks to their lowest levels in five years.

Analysts say the downturn though unsettling for many investors has created a rare window of opportunity for strategic buyers seeking undervalued assets with strong long-term fundamentals.

Market watchers note that institutional investors are rebalancing their portfolios ahead of year-end reports, contributing to sell pressure across several blue-chip counters. Despite this, financial experts insist that the current dip could mark the beginning of a major rebound cycle, especially as macroeconomic indicators show signs of stabilizing.

Retail investors are advised to stay alert, conduct proper research, and take advantage of discounted stock prices before the market begins its expected recovery phase.

FCTA Cracks Down: Abuja Property Owners Face Tough Enforcement Over Unpaid Charges

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced a strict enforcement drive targeting property owners across Abuja who have failed to settle their outstanding statutory charges. According to officials, the operation aims to boost compliance, enhance revenue generation, and ensure proper urban management within the FCT.
Enforcement teams have already begun visiting estates, commercial buildings, and private properties to serve notices, seal defaulters’ premises, and demand immediate payment. The FCTA says the exercise is necessary to maintain essential services and infrastructure development in the capital city.
Property owners are urged to clear their debts promptly to avoid sanctions, legal action, or disruption of business activities. The administration emphasized that the enforcement will continue until full compliance is achieved.

Tinubu Declares National Security Emergency as Lawmakers Oppose Talks With Bandits

In a decisive move to tackle the escalating wave of insecurity across the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a national security emergency. This announcement follows strong resistance from federal lawmakers who rejected proposals for negotiations with bandit groups, insisting that dialogue would only embolden criminal networks.

The President emphasized that Nigeria cannot afford to compromise its sovereignty or reward violence with concessions. Instead, he unveiled a reinforced security strategy focused on intelligence-driven operations, increased military presence in hotspots, and enhanced collaboration with local communities.

Lawmakers across party lines supported the tougher stance, urging security agencies to accelerate ongoing operations and restore peace, especially in rural communities facing repeated attacks. Citizens have expressed mixed reactions, but many hope the renewed urgency will bring lasting stability.

Army Intensifies Crackdown, Destroys 7 Illegal Refineries in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army has intensified its ongoing operations against oil theft, announcing the deactivation of seven illegal refineries in different parts of the Niger Delta.
According to officials, the raids were carried out during a series of coordinated operations aimed at curbing crude oil sabotage and protecting national assets.

Troops also seized equipment used for illegal refining and disrupted multiple camps linked to oil thieves. The Army says the operation will continue until economic sabotage in the region is fully stamped out.

Ezekwesili Slams ‘Cancerous Corruption’ as Root of Nigeria’s Worsening Insecurity, Mass Abductions”

Former Minister of Education and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, Oby Ezekwesili, has blamed Nigeria’s deepening insecurity and the recurring mass abductions of schoolchildren on what she calls “cancerous, systemic corruption” crippling the nation’s institutions.
In a post shared via her X handle on Monday, Ezekwesili said corruption had eaten deep into Nigeria’s foundational values, leaving vital institutions — including the military and judiciary “terribly compromised and incapable of delivering on their mandate.”
According to her, “Endemic corruption gradually ate up the very values on which they were founded and rendered them the impotent institutions we now know.”
She warned that the alarming rise in attacks and kidnappings reflects the full consequence of decades of ignored good governance. Ezekwesili described the repeated assaults on schools as clear “proof of state collapse in its most basic duty the protection of our greatest human asset: our children.”
Ten years after the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction, she argued, the Federal Government can no longer plead ignorance or inexperience.
“What we have is deliberate negligence, and deliberate negligence is a crime,” she said.
Ezekwesili added that any administration that fails to rescue abducted children or secure schools “accepts that it governs without legitimacy.”
Her post ended with a pointed conclusion: “Enough said.”

South-East Leaders Rally for Political Solution After Kanu’s Life Sentence Sparks Regional Outcry

South-East political and socio-cultural leaders on Thursday intensified calls for a political resolution to secure the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, following his sentencing to life imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, said they would immediately open channels of dialogue with the Presidency, insisting that a political settlement remained the most viable path to preventing fresh tensions in the region.

“Now that the court has concluded its work, it is time to intensify the request for the President’s intervention,” Kalu said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu. “All hope is not lost. Our people should remain calm.”

Kalu voiced confidence that President Bola Tinubu would “listen to well-meaning Igbo leaders,” noting that the matter now transcends the courtroom and requires national leadership to maintain peace.

Regional groups reject ruling

Kanu’s sentencing triggered immediate backlash from several Igbo groups.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo described the judgment as a “black day” for the region, while the Igbo Community Association in Abuja warned that the ruling could jeopardize the fragile calm recently regained in parts of the South-East.

The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) said rising anxiety had already gripped the region and urged President Tinubu to “temper justice with mercy.” President-General Goodluck Ibem stressed that the matter had moved beyond legalities and now touched on fairness, inclusion, and national unity.

The South East Revival Group went further, calling the conviction a “judicial aberration” and urging the Court of Appeal to act swiftly. The group also demanded that the National Judicial Council review the conduct of the trial judge.

Legal team vows to fight on

Kanu’s consultant, Aloy Ejimakor, said the legal team would proceed to the Court of Appeal, describing the ruling as “a travesty of justice.” He insisted that the legal fight would continue, even up to the Supreme Court if required.

A livestream from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku Town has surfaced online, showing the final peaceful moments of worship before gun-wielding terrorists stormed the church. What began as a normal service quickly turned into chaos as worshippers fled for safety.

This heartbreaking footage is yet another reminder of the insecurity gripping our nation. Innocent Nigerians cannot even gather to worship without fear.

May the souls of the lost rest in peace.
May justice be swift.
May Nigeria find healing.
