Drama in Delta as Aircraft Lands on Road After Failed Airport Approach in Asaba
A private aircraft caused confusion on Wednesday, June 10, after it reportedly landed on a roadway in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, following a failed attempt to land at the Asaba International Airport.
The jet, identified as a Bombardier Challenger 601, was said to have aborted its initial approach around 7:43 a.m. before unexpectedly touching down on a road still under construction near Asaba.
According to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the aircraft later departed the scene and returned to Lagos without proper regulatory clearance.
The regulator stated that the aircraft was immediately grounded upon arrival in Lagos, while the crew were placed under investigation.
It also confirmed the suspension of the operator’s Permit for Non-Commercial Flight, pending further inquiries into the incident.
