So 2023 was the most intriguing year for me, I learnt a lot, unlearnt a lot, made a couple mistakes, lost money, made some, got laid off, got project done, got disappointed most of the times; with all these events one of the thing I’m most grateful about 2023 was that I never procrastinate a project, any project I decided to embark on I made sure I completed them, paid or probono, it was a goal I set for my self and I was so proud of my staying power and commitment, it was kind of joy for me through these projects.
Now 2024 hmmmm, 2024 comes with lots of mix feelings honestly, I am open to work and at the same time I have projects I have outlined to embark on this year, some I have started planning from December 2023, but the one I’m fully committed to completing this year is my First Short film. I have been animating for almost a decade now and I won’t say I am the best animator ever, of course I do have alot to learn but creating A 3D animation short had always been a project a couple of friends and family have been pushing me to do but I kept saying it wasn’t time, that I still had a lot to learn, I don’t have all the skill set, I don’t have the right people and most importantly I don’t have the cash flow to fund it, but hey enough of running, truth is no one is ever fully ready and I believe this could be an exciting and interesting learning experience as well.
So friends I started planing and working this short film since 2023 and I am set to release it this year, not quite sure of the month or day exactly but trust me to keep my words. “ODUDU” which translates Strength in EFIK, a beautiful language spoken by the beautiful of calabar in cross river state Nigeria 🇳🇬. The short is a mixture of indigenous plot, sci-fi and passionate storytelling. Trust me I don’t have all the cards but with the ground work I have done so far this short is gonna be nothing short of incredible.
Some might ask, why are you telling us these? Why don’t do it man and let’s see the results, like I said I don’t have all the cards, this project is self funded and mostly done by myself, I am throwing an open letter to collaborators this year, 3D artists, animators, storyboards artists, VFX artist, modeling artists, sound designers, composers, voice actors etc. if you want to be part of something interesting this year, this is my pet project and I am going all out to get it excellently done. I am grateful for all your support all through 2023 and I am grateful for your support again this 2024. I’m still open to work by the way, like is said mixed feeling lol. 😂😍
