What I wish I knew before getting married
Before I got married, I wish someone had told me that my husband will move through emotions quickly and easily. You see, I’m a sulk-queen - when I’m upset, I go mute, I just withdraw and wait for the apology parade to begin 😅. But my hubby? He’s like a breeze - upset one minute, laughing the next 🤣. I’d be like, “Babe, what’s so funny? Did you forget you just offended me?” 😂 he’d just smile and say but I have apologized na and move on to the next topic like it’s no big deal 😢.
It dawned on me that I’m stuck with this man; the only person permitted to annoy me every 2 seconds, so I better learn to forgive fast! Forgiveness in marriage is like a daily vitamin - you gotta take it whether you like it or not. Love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a decision to forgive your partner (and sometimes in advance, lol 🤣).
Better late than never, right? 🤷♀️ Now I’m learning to let go, unlearn, and relearn... and my heart is thanking me for that.
Am I the only one who struggles with this? 🤷♀️ Let me know in the comments!
What’s the most challenging part of marriage for you? Forgiveness, communication, or something else? 🤔
Happy new month my friend, welcome to the month of October. ❤️
