AFENIFERE YOUTH ASSEMBLY (AYA) CONDEMNS ATTACK ON OGBOMOSO SCHOOL, CALLS FOR URGENT SECURITY REFORMS
The Afenifere Youth Assembly (AYA), under the leadership of its National President, Lekan Owolabi, has strongly condemned the reported attack involving students, teachers, and pupils in Ogbomoso, describing the incident as disturbing, unfortunate, and a clear indication of the growing security challenges facing the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the Assembly, Lekan Owolabi urged all Yoruba sons and daughters, particularly members of Afenifere and residents across Yorubaland, to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and committed to protecting their communities, territories, and lawful means of livelihood.
According to him, the increasing cases of kidnapping, banditry, and violent attacks across the country have created fear and uncertainty among citizens, making it imperative for government at all levels to take decisive action to safeguard lives and property.
The AYA President called on the Federal Government, security agencies, and state governments to strengthen security architecture through modern technology, intelligence gathering, and community-based security initiatives. He emphasized that protecting schools, markets, highways, and rural communities must become a top national priority.
Lekan Owolabi further advocated for the expansion and proper regulation of private security services to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies. He noted that community security structures, working within the framework of the law, can play a significant role in securing neighborhoods and responding swiftly to threats.
He also urged the Federal Government to introduce advanced cyber-security and digital surveillance systems across police formations nationwide to enhance intelligence gathering, crime detection, and rapid response to criminal activities.
"The time has come for Nigeria to take a firm and united stand against kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening the peace of our nation. Our people deserve to live, work, and pursue education without fear," he stated.
The Afenifere Youth Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, security, and stability across Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.
Signed:
Lekan Owolabi
