AKWA IBOM, ABIA SET FOR HISTORIC BURIAL OF REV. DR. UMA UKPAI

Akwa Ibom and Abia states are set to host a historic farewell for Uma Ukpai, the renowned Nigerian Christian leader and international evangelist whose passing on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80 marked the end of an era in Nigeria’s Pentecostal movement, DFBmedia TV reports.

Born on January 7, 1945, Rev. Dr. Ukpai was the founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a global gospel ministry headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Through decades of evangelistic crusades, leadership conferences and humanitarian initiatives, he built a ministry that reached across denominational and national boundaries. He was also a founding figure in the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, helping to shape and strengthen Nigeria’s Pentecostal community.

In a statement released by the late cleric’s family and received by DFBmedia TV, funeral activities will begin on March 8, 2026, with the opening of the mourning house at Ewet Housing Estate in Uyo. A medical and welfare outreach will follow on March 14 in Nkek Village, Ukanafun Local Government Area, reflecting the late cleric’s longstanding commitment to community development and compassionate service.

A Service of Honour is scheduled for March 18 at the UUEA Victory Cathedral in Uyo, while the Akwa Ibom State Government will hold a commendation service on March 20 at the International Worship Center along Udo Udoma Avenue, in recognition of his spiritual and social contributions to the state and the nation.

Activities will then move to Abia State, where another medical outreach will take place on March 24 in Asaga, Ohafia. A Song of Tribute will be held on March 26, ahead of the State Burial ceremony later that morning at the International Conference Center in Umuahia. The final interment service is slated for March 27 in his hometown of Asaga, Ohafia.

Church leaders, government officials and thousands of followers from within and outside Nigeria are expected to attend the ceremonies, widely described as a celebration of a life devoted to evangelism, national transformation and humanitarian impact. As preparations intensify, tributes continue to pour in, affirming Rev. Dr. Ukpai’s enduring legacy in both church and society.

Caleb University has appointed Pastor Folu Adeboye as its new Chancellor, DFBmedia TV can report.

The announcement was made during the institution’s 15th Convocation Ceremony, where she was also conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa).
Pastor Adeboye is the wife of Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God.

According to a statement issued by the university’s Information, Media and Publication Specialist, Olawale Adekoya, the newly appointed Chancellor will preside over convocations, confer degrees, and serve as the ceremonial head of the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described the development as a significant milestone, noting that her appointment represents a blend of academic distinction and spiritual leadership. He expressed confidence that her wealth of experience in mentorship, education, and institutional leadership will strengthen the university’s values and strategic direction.

The Registrar, Mr. Mayokun Olumeru, also praised the appointment, describing her as a custodian of moral values and a guiding influence.

At the ceremony, the university graduated 1,924 students, including 96 First Class graduates and 22 doctoral degree recipients.

Born on April 11, 1962, in Barkin Ladi, Reverend Dachomo has endured personal losses, including the destruction of his church and home during past attacks. Despite these challenges, he remains a leading voice for justice, peace, and the protection of Christian communities.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has received renovation support from the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, in a move aimed at improving administrative workspaces and overall functionality, DFBmedia TV can report.

In a statement released on UNILAG official social media account, DFBmedia TV reports that on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the UNILAG Management team, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, formally received Dr. Olukoya during his visit to the institution. The visit was to inspect the recently renovated offices of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar.

The renovation project, fully funded by Dr. Olukoya, includes modern furniture, upgraded décor, improved toilet facilities, new doors, chairs, and computers. The upgrades were designed to enhance both the aesthetics and efficiency of the offices, providing a more conducive working environment for university leadership.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, Mrs. V. Abosede Wickliffe, expressed their gratitude for the gesture and personally conducted Dr. Olukoya on a tour of the refurbished facilities.
