In March 2022, I received an invitation to speak for the first time on LIVE TV. In the past, I had done pre-recorded interviews with TV journalists, but live TV felt different. It felt scary frankly speaking.
Dear Leader, I know how it feels to be doing so much work behind the scenes but struggle to effectively communicate what you do.
As someone who often receives emails from journalists over the years, I remember that fright I felt the first time I was asked to come speak on live TV and how I almost cancelled at the last minute. I was so scared that I was going to forget my lines and say gibberish in front of everyone.
But I showed up and did better than I imagined. I took corrections on areas I could improve
AND a yearlater, following other principles I had learnt, things changed.
So When CNN reached out to me in 2022, I was ready. I was able to speak confidently and eloquently, and I got so many good remarks from that feature. That CNN feature provided so much more credibility what I do and supported me in securing even more opportunities.
The point is this: storytelling and speaking on a global platform or stage can be learnt. You don’t have to let fear hold you back.
