Commuters plying the Lagos-Benin-Asaba road slept on the road Sunday night as gridlock compounded their pain in what one of them who identified himself as Jonathan described as “double wahala.”

Political Economist NG reports that while traffic on the usually busy highway has peaked because of the Christmas season, the bad state of the road has worsened the traffic situation forcing the commuters to sleep on the road.

“We have been on the same spot for two hours. Front and back blocked; we have no idea what is going on but as you can see the road is bad. “Help us tell President Tinubu to give priority to this major road.

Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama held talks with a global delegation seeking reparations for transatlantic slavery and colonialism, who urged him to rally other African leaders to choose "courage over comfort" and support the growing movement. The delegation, made up of experts from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, and the United States, presented Mahama with priority actions under the African Union's (AU) reparations agenda, it said in a statement. (https://www.politicaleconomistng.com/unga-president-urges-member-states-to-act-for-common-good-of-all-citizens/)

In February, the AU launched a drive to create a "unified vision" on what reparations may look like, from financial compensation and formal acknowledgments of past wrongs to policy reforms. At least 12.5 million Africans were kidnapped and forcibly transported by European ships, then sold into slavery from the 15th to the 19th centuries.

Aoiri Obaigbo, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Benin, Benin City (Uniben) couldn’t have captured the quintessential Professor Adamu Baikie better on his Facebook account: “We nor go gree o/ We nor go gree/ Adamu Baike/ We nor go gree!
