AFTER OFFICE, OLAROKUN FAMILY HONOURS FORMER ORILE AGEGE LCDA CHAIRMAN, HON Johnson Babatunde

It was a day of recognition and celebration at the Olarokun family compound in Orile-Agege, as the immediate past Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde, was specially honoured for his contributions to the community.

The event featured the commissioning of the reconstructed archway at the Olarokun family house entrance and the commissioning of the rehabilitated Olarokun Mosque, both completed under his leadership. These projects not only uplifted the compound but also reinforced the legacy of service associated with his tenure.

The historic day also coincided with the installation of the new Olori Ebi of the Olarokun family, Prince Ajibola Arowolo, and drew the presence of notable dignitaries, including the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, an indigene of the Olarokun community.

In appreciation of his impactful service, Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde was presented with an Award of Excellence, a testament to his dedication and lasting footprint in Orile-Agege.

ORILE AGEGE LCDA CHAIRMAN, HON. IDOWU AKINOLA ABIODUN CONTINUES SCHOOL PROJECT INSPECTION

The Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akinola Idowu today, Monday, 18th August 2025, continued his inspection tour of public schools within the Local Council Development Area.

The Chairman visited Ibukunolu Primary School, State Nursery and Primary School, Oore-ọfẹ Primary School (both the Regular and Inclusive sections), Unity Primary School, Progressive Primary School, among others.

During the exercise, Hon. Idowu reiterated his administration’s commitment to upgrading educational infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for learning across all schools in Orile-Agege LCDA. He emphasised that the council will continue to prioritise investments in facilities that will enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Accompanying the Chairman were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Wale Fayemi; Education Secretary District 1,Mrs Ogunyemi, Chief of Staff, Mr. Tijanni Femi; HOD Education, Mrs. Ogunyakin Foluke; Council Engineer, Engr. (Mrs.) Kosoko; HOU Public Affairs, Mrs. Bukola Bankole; HOU Procurement, Mrs. Oladele Rukayat, and other senior management staff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EPETEDO BORN JOURNALIST TURNED POLICE OFFICER, CSP OLASUNKANMI OPE

When you have a friend like Layigbade Mola Oke , go and sleep, he gets your back. You are covered from any internal and external aggression.

Olasunkanmi is just a police officer, he is dutiful one who respects human rights of Nigerians.

In case you don't know, Ope is a trained journalist before joining Nigeria Police Force .His passion for security of property and lives pushed him to enroll as a Police Cadet. And the rest is story.

His Community Policing Model has earned him several awards. From Aregbe Town in Abeokuta to Ayinla Police Station, Anthony Village Police Station to Ile- epo Police Station, Zone 2 to Oshodi; Ope has contributed immensely to the security of lives and properties.

Olasunkanmi is an indigene of Lagos State, hailed from EPETEDO, Lagos Island. He is a thoroughly bred Lagosian.

As a friend, Ope is dependable, accommodating and responsible.He is willing to help always.

As he added another age today, May Allah(SWT) protect and guide him to fulfil all destiny of his life.

SUSTAINABLE GROWTH: ORILE AGEGE LCDA CHAIRMAN APPRECIATES JOURNALISTS, SEEKS COLLABORATION

The Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Idowu appreciated journalists and seemed further collaboration with the fourth Estate of realm.

Akinola stated this at the media parley organized for the Community Media Practitioners. The Parley tagged: Media Partnership for Good Governance and Grassroots Economy Growth.

Hon. Akinola whose background as a journalist understands the importance of community media collaboration in fostering community growth and as a feedback mechanism towards community infrastructural development in the council.

The event described as a first of its kind in the council history held today at Orile-Agege LCDA Secretariat.

In his welcome address, Hon. Akinola said "this media parley, today, we are here to strengthen an important bond — the partnership between government and the media — a partnership essential to deliver good governance and driving grassroots economic growth in our dear local government.

He said, "From time immemorial, the media has been central to building accountable, transparent, and people-focused governance. By working with the media, governments, organisations, and communities can amplify their messages, raise awareness, and inspire positive change.

"The press, are more than reporters of events — you are shapers of public opinion, builders of trust, and watchdogs of democracy. When the media works hand in hand with government, citizens are better informed, policies are better understood, and communities are more engaged.

"Our administration’s focus is clear in Empowering local businesses and artisans with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Building infrastructure that supports commerce and improves daily life.

"Creating opportunities for our youth in skills acquisition, technology, and entrepreneurship. But these efforts only succeed when people are aware of them, trust them, and participate in them — and that’s where the media plays a vital role.

"Media partnerships are not just about publicity — they are about building trust, enabling participation, and ensuring that governance is truly by the people and for the people. Effective collaboration requires trust, access to information, continuous engagement, and mutual respect.

"Good governance is a shared responsibility. Together — government, the media, and the people — we can make Orile-Agege a model community where governance works, businesses grow, and citizens prosper".

The Council boss then urged Media Practitioners present to engaged in constructive criticism that can check government in their daily activities.

Akinola promised his administration would focus majorly on the laid down legacies of the past governments and commission major projects in his first 100 Days in Office.

6TH LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL: ORILE AGEGE LCDA CHAIRMAN,HON. Akinola Idowu SEEKS FOR COLLABORATION, PROMISES MORE DEVELOPMENT


AS Orile Agege LCDA 's 6th Legislative Council takes centre stage, Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu ( Popularly known as Dodo), officially proclaimed t 6th Legislative Council, and reaffirming his administration’s to uphold the values of accountability, unity, and sustainable development.

During the even, Akinola emphasized the continuity of good governance and deepened collaboration between the executive and legislative arms to move Orile Agege forward.

The solemn ceremony commenced with an opening prayer by Elder Ajide, followed by an insightful address by the Clerk of the House, who introduced the council’s roles and responsibilities. She urged the newly inaugurated councillors to discharge their duties with dignity, transparency, and dedication, while wishing them a successful tenure.

Following the chairman’s proclamation, the election of principal officers took center stage:

Hon. Olamilekan Sunmonu (Ward F) nominated Hon. Omotunde Afolabi (Ward D) for the position of Leader of the House, seconded by Hon. Adegoke Waheed Lawal (Ward A).

Hon. Olushola Gafar Akinbile (Ward B) nominated Hon. Waheed Ajibade Balogun (Ward C) for Deputy Leader, seconded by Hon. Temitope Tele Olukoya (Ward E).

With unanimous support, Hon. Omotunde Afolabi, former Majority Leader in the 5th Council, emerged as Leader of the 6th Assembly, while Hon. Waheed Ajibade Balogun was declared Deputy Leader by the Clerk, immediately followed by their oath-taking.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Hon. Omotunde Afolabi extended profound gratitude to Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, whom he described as a father figure. He also acknowledged Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde, Hon. Kola Egunjobi, Oba Alaiyeluwa Ambaliu Hakeem Agbedeyi (JP), the Alayige of Orile Agege Kingdom, Elder Safari Adaranijo, Elder Ajide, Leader Olubisi Adedokun Odeomu, and other leaders, both present and absent.

Hon. Olamilekan Sunmonu (Ward F) moved a motion for seating adjustment, seconded by Hon. Temitope Tele Olukoya (Ward E). The motion was adopted by the House.
