? Jo Modi is a Nigerian-born music producer and recording artist currently based in the UK, renowned for his innovative approach to blending African musical heritage with contemporary sounds. Originating from Port Harcourt and raised in a gospel-influenced environment, he developed a deep foundation in music through church choirs, mastering instruments like drums, bass guitar, and keyboard.
Starting his production journey with a Yamaha PSR keyboard and digital audio workstation, Jo Modi quickly immersed himself in self-directed learning, drawing inspiration from industry icons like Masterkraft and Sarz. In 2017, he co-founded Morelife Studios in Port Harcourt, a creative hub dedicated to fostering artistic expression.
His eclectic influences include Afrobeats, R&B, lo-fi hip-hop, and gospel, which come together in projects like “Kokiri’s Timeless Cafe,” a nostalgic yet meditative reinterpretation of a classic video game theme, showcasing his ability to merge secular and spiritual sounds beautifully.
