Let me tell you a story.....

Last night, I was about to take my daily supplement when one of the capsules slipped from my hand and flew off.

I heard the sound it made, it landed on top of my bag but I had to search carefully before I found it.

For a moment, I thought, "Should I just leave this one ?" But I didn't.

As I searched, I remembered the woman Jesus spoke about who lost one coin. She didn't say, "I still have nine others." She lit a lamp, swept the house, and searched carefully until she found it.

In that moment I learnt something:

If it's worth having, it's worth pursuing.

How many opportunities, dreams, skills, relationships, or even God's instructions have we abandoned because going after them required a little more effort?

Be intentional. Be persistent. WHAT IS VALUABLE DESERVES EFFORT.

"Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?" — Luke 15:8

There was a time I could sit through a 1 hour 30 minutes class without pressing pause once.

I'd take notes, practise immediately, and finish feeling energized.

Now? 😅

I pause the video 5 times before it ends. One call here. One task there. Work, responsibilities, notifications... life just keeps happening.

At first, I thought I was becoming less disciplined.

Back then, I had more time. Today, I have more responsibilities, more work.

I'm grateful for that season because it gave me the opportunity to learn deeply, discover my strengths, work on my weaknesses, and build the foundation I'm standing on today.

This season is different, but the goal hasn't changed.

We keep learning.
We keep growing.
We keep showing up... even if we have to press pause a few times along the way.

The way some people come online to talk about their personal lives and even the lives of their friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, and just about everyone around them really amazes me.

Sometimes I wonder; don't the people they're talking about also have phones and social media accounts?

If you have issues with someone, why not have an honest conversation and sort them out privately instead of bringing everything online?

Not every disagreement needs an audience.

Lately, I've been reflecting on few things I've learnt.

I've learned not to assume things anymore. Instead, I ask questions.

I've learned that not every piece of work needs criticism. If something isn't great, I leave it.

I've learned to be the first to speak when I meet people. I no longer wait for others to start the conversation.

I've learned to appreciate the relationships I have.

I've learned to appreciate my current season of life instead of constantly wishing for the next one.

I've learned to be honest about what I can afford I don't try to keep up appearance.

None of these lessons may seem dramatic from the outside, but they've brought me a lot of peace on the inside.

Are we truly a democratic nation?

On paper the answer is yes.

Democracy is simple: government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

It suggests a system where power comes from citizens, leaders are chosen by citizens, and governance exists to serve the welfare and interests of the people.

But in reality, are we experiencing the definition, or just repeating it?

Looking around us, are we truly enjoying the benefits of democracy?

My younger sister attended Government Girls Secondary School Kaiama as a science. Yet from SS1 to SS2, there was no Chemistry teacher. When she got to the University as a Pure and Applied Chemistry student in her year 1 to keep up, she had to spend over 24 hours every week teaching herself.

I strongly oppose examination malpractice. But honestly, if students are not taught, what exactly are they expected to write?

A few months back I walked into a General Hospital’s Emergency ward because I didn't quite know my way.
A pregnant woman, so weak she couldn’t walk and was throwing up, arrives in a wheelchair, only to be told there is no available bed.
Only registration can take up to two hours.

What is even more painful is seeing VIP options in the public hospital with clear banners while others are struggling to access basic healthcare.

The sad reality is that the moment a facility is "public" in Nigeria it is commissioned and neglected.

Every day, people suffer, people go missing. Some stories make it online; countless others never do

We must hold leaders accountable. Yes!!!

But while demanding better governance, we must also recognize our own responsibility.

A better Nigeria will not emerge from the Government alone.

It will come from citizens who refuse to look away, who support education, help their communities, mentor young people, report wrongdoing, and contribute wherever they can.

I saw a clip of bandits' related account doing give away on Tiktok and Nigerian citizens were sending their account details and some people came online to testify they received the money.

Even the people who are to vote for a leader are unreasonable, how sad.

How did we even get here???

Let's stop waiting for someone else to fix Nigeria.

Let's become part of the solution.

The Nigeria we desire begins with the responsibility we are willing to take today.

So what should we say now…Happy Democracy??

Some People Don’t Really Want Help They Want Pity

So a few months ago, I met a man at Oshodi who said he desperately needed a job.

I felt compassion, so I took his number and promised to let him know if I found any openings.

The very next morning, he called to remind me, I admired that kind of seriousness.

So when I came across a job opportunity, I forwarded it to him and asked him to message the contact on WhatsApp.

Then he said, “I don’t have an Android phone.”
I explained that most of these jobs come through WhatsApp with long messages, flyers, and links.

I can’t start sending all that as SMS, it’s too costly and the message will be incomplete.

Days later, he kept calling…now, not to give feedback but to complain.

Every two days he calls with new complaints, same situation.

I finally told him, “Until you sort out this phone issue, there’s nothing I can do because even if I sent the message to the employer they would still want to meet with him virtually or otherwise.

Then one day, he said he wanted to see me in person 😳 I asked why.

He said he wanted to explain the issue.

Guess what the “issue” was again?
The phone. I just tire 🥺

He was even ready to spend ₦4,500 on transport from Oshodi to Ibeju-Lekki just to come and complain instead of reaching someone

At that point, I realized some people don’t really want help, they want to transfer their responsibility to you.

No matter how much you care, you can’t help someone who refuses to help themselves.

Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do… is step back and let them learn.

Some people are overqualified…

yet they’ve been stuck on an 80k salary for 2 years.

Why? It’s not about what you know. It’s about how you present yourself.

How you sell your skills, your experiences, your value. I see it all the time.

People with incredible talents, the courage to persuade, the confidence to smile, excellent customer service, just need a few key strategies and a little know-how to start:

•Demanding better salaries
•Landing dream jobs
•Becoming affiliates for brands and organisations

Yesterday, I met a lady on the street. She walked up with such confidence and aura, telling me about PWAN and how she works as an agent.

She even showed me her POS machine and explained that she has to make money in Nigeria.

I wasn’t persuaded to register, but I was impressed by her presentation. Her energy, her pitch, her clarity… wow.

Now, someone like her could package her experience, polish her CV, and land a far better opportunity.

Knowledge is power, the way you present your skills matters, even with SSCE you can be valuable.

If you’re qualified but stuck at the same salary, start selling your value, not just your experience.
