A few days ago, I lent a close friend ₦200,000, and now she has stopped taking my calls.
On Monday, Nancy called me in tears, saying her daughter was seriously ill and needed urgent medical attention. She explained that she had been trying to reach her husband, but both of his phone lines were unreachable. Out of concern, I lent her the ₦200,000, believing it was for her child's treatment. She promised to pay me back as soon as her husband returned.
The next day, I called to check on her daughter, but what she told me left me completely shocked. 😢
She confessed that she had invested the entire ₦200,000 in NRC, hoping to make quick profits. She even admitted that if she had told me the truth, I probably wouldn't have given her the money.
I was deeply disappointed.
Yesterday, I heard reports that NRC had crashed, and ever since then, she hasn't answered any of my calls. Worried, I reached out to her husband, only to discover that she had invested ₦1 million in NRC without his knowledge or consent.
I'm travelling from Owerri to Umuahia today to check on her because I'm genuinely concerned about her wellbeing. Money can be replaced, but a life cannot.
