Episode 2: The Return of Tunde
Eva stared at her phone, her chest heavy. The name flashing on her screen carried both sweet memories and bitter pain. Tunde. The man who once promised her the world but shattered her trust like a clay pot dropped on concrete.
Her hands trembled as she opened the message.
“Eva, forgive me. I made a mistake. I still love you. Please, can we meet?”
Tears pricked her eyes. This was the same man who had boldly introduced another woman to his church as his fiancée while Eva sat among the congregation, her heart breaking silently. How could he now claim he loved her?
Daniel, seated beside her, noticed her struggle. “Who is it?” he asked, voice gentle but firm.
Eva shook her head, trying to hide the screen. But Daniel wasn’t a fool; he saw the pain in her eyes. “Let me guess,” he said slowly. “The man who broke you is now crawling back.”
His words cut through her. She blinked, surprised. How could this stranger read her so well?
Eva let out a shaky laugh. “You speak as if you know him.”
“I don’t need to know him,” Daniel replied, his voice steady. “Men like that are everywhere—quick to destroy, quick to beg. But you, Eva, you must decide whether you want to heal or to bleed again.”
The words sank deep. She stared at him, this man who had just walked into her life yet spoke like an elder brother—or perhaps, something more.
Her phone buzzed again. This time, it was not just a message but a call. Tunde’s name glowed on the screen like fire. Eva’s heart raced. A part of her still longed for closure. But another part—the wounded, wiser part—feared the chains of the past.
Should she answer?
Daniel’s eyes never left her. “Eva, listen,” he said softly, “Love without trust is poison. And betrayal is not a mistake—it is a choice. If he loved you, he wouldn’t have chosen another. Don’t let sweet words blind you to bitter truth.”
Eva swallowed hard. His words were true. But the human heart is stubborn, easily swayed by old memories.
Her hand hovered over the phone. The call kept ringing, louder in her ears than the rain pounding outside.
Finally, she pressed “Decline.”
But deep inside, Eva knew this wasn’t the end. Tunde would not let go that easily.
👉🏽 Do you think Eva made the right choice declining Tunde’s call—or should she have heard him out?
