Throwback Thursday!
Back in Osogbo, with support from The Challenge Initiative - TCIGetittogetherng, we had an enlightenment programme where Mrs. Roseline Akinlabi, Adolescent Desk Officer, Osun PHC Board, made it clear:

"Child marriage and peer pressure are fueling teenage pregnancy in Nigeria".
And the truth is this, without family planning, the cycle only gets worse. Behind the numbers are real girls, real dreams, and futures on the line. 💙

Throwback to July 15, 2025!
Osun State wasn’t playing games when it came to family planning 👏. In just 3 years, 76,000+ people said “yes, let’s plan smartly!” 💙
The best part? Even though TCI is wrapping up, Osun is saying: “Don’t worry, we’ve got this covered!” 😎✨
Because when families plan better, communities shine brighter. 🌍✨

Let's relive this beautiful moment!!

During a pivotal stakeholders’ meeting on the 27th of July 2025, in Osogbo, the Osun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the remarkable improvements in family planning uptake achieved through a collaboration with The Challenge Initiative - TCI. Over 76,008 men and women have benefitted from these services over the past three years.

As The Challenge Initiative gradually transitions out, Osun is shifting toward full self-reliance, taking full ownership of its reproductive health programs and positioning family planning as a sustainable government-led priority.

🔥 Tradition vs. Science in family planning, can they really coexist?
: Dr. Ajoke called for integrating both methods but warned of the risks.
She emphasized the need for a culturally sensitive approach that balances modern medicine with existing community practices, ensuring more families benefit from safe and sustainable FP options.

Punch reported that, Annually, about 50,000-100,000 women sustain obstetric fistula in the act of birthing new lives, and this condition subjects most to misery and stigmatisation.

The condition, according to the United Nations Population Fund, is the most devastating of all pregnancy-related disabilities and Nigeria accounts for 40 per cent of fistula cases worldwide.

According to the World Health Organisation, Obstetric Fistula or Vesicosva**na Fistula (VF) is an abnormal opening between a woman’s va**na and bladder and or re**um, which allows the continual and uncontrollable leakage of urine or faeces.
