There's this woman that stood by the roadside every morning selling bread.
Rain or sunshine, she never missed a day.
One afternoon, a young man asked her, "Mama, you've been selling bread for years.
Why do you still look so tired?"
She smiled and said, "Because every loaf I sell is another step toward my son's dream."
The young man was confused.
She continued, "My son wanted to become a doctor. His father died when he was only ten years old. Since then, I've carried this basket every day so he could stay in school."
"What about you?" he asked.
She looked down and whispered, "Many nights I go to bed hungry, but I tell myself hunger lasts one night... education lasts a lifetime."
Years later, her son graduated as a doctor.
On the day of his graduation, she wore the same old wrapper she had worn for years.
As he stood on stage, he stopped the ceremony, walked to his mother, knelt before her, and said with tears in his eyes:
"This certificate belongs to the woman who sacrificed every meal so I could have a future."
The entire hall stood in silence. Many people cried.
Never laugh at someone struggling today. Behind every tired face may be a heart making sacrifices that will change someone's tomorrow.
Respect every hardworking parent. Their love is often written in sacrifices no one else can see.
