A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered popular comedian Ali Baba to vacate a luxury property on Akin Ogunlewe Street, Victoria Island, following a legal dispute over ownership.
The court ruled that the property, originally belonging to Harold Expansion Industries, was wrongly sold by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) in 2021 while litigation was still pending. Ali Baba had acquired the property during that period.
On August 15, the court declared AMCON’s sale null and void and issued a writ of possession in favor of the original owner. Bailiffs carried out the eviction on August 28, forcing Ali Baba and his company, XQZMOI TV, to leave the premises.
The case highlights ongoing controversies around AMCON’s asset sales and disputes involving high-profile tenants and buyers
