President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted a presidential pardon to Major Suleiman Alabi Akubo, a Nigerian Army officer who was sentenced to life imprisonment for selling over 7,000 stolen military weapons to Niger Delta militants. Akubo, now 62, was among 175 people who recently received clemency and other forms of pardon approved by the National Council of State.

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the demise of one of its personnel, Lance Corporal Akenleye Femi, who allegedly murdered his spouse and subsequently took his own life at the Wawa Cantonment in Niger State. According to a statement issued by Capt. Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, the tragic incident transpired on October 11 at the 221 Battalion quarters within the cantonment.
