🚛🚧 ROAD CRISIS: Bida-Ilorin Road Delays Are Driving Up Food Costs! 🚧🚛

At Hero Commodities, we’re committed to delivering quality agro-commodities across Nigeria. But right now, the terrible state of the Bida-Ilorin road is causing major disruptions in our supply chain to Sagamu and beyond.

🌾 The Impact?
✅ Delayed Deliveries: Longer transit times due to bad roads mean fresh produce arrives late, increasing spoilage.
✅ Higher Costs: More fuel, more truck maintenance, and more losses = higher prices for everyone.
✅ Food Price Hikes: When supply chains suffer, market scarcity pushes food prices up nationwide.

We’re doing our best to navigate these challenges, but better infrastructure is crucial for Nigeria’s food security.

Let’s demand action! Better roads mean smoother deliveries, lower costs, and more affordable food for all.

New Ginger Harvest Season in Nigeria: A Call to Action

Nigeria's ginger farmers are facing a challenging time after last season's devastating ginger blight disease, which affected over 90% of the harvest and left many farmers impoverished ¹. Although there's been a slight improvement in this season's harvest, it's still only about 15% of the pre-disease era's impressive over 800,000 tons.

The Current State of Ginger Farming in Nigeria

Despite Nigeria's potential to become a significant source of income for smallholder farmers and driver of economic growth, the ginger industry is struggling to recover. The current market price of ginger, at about 10 million per ton, is unsustainable and has severely impacted ginger exports from Nigeria.

A Call to Action

To reclaim Nigeria's position in global ginger output, urgent intervention is needed from both state and national governments. This support can help:

- Improve Farming Practices: Enhance farmer education and training on disease management and sustainable farming techniques.
- Boost Infrastructure: Develop storage facilities, irrigation systems, and transportation networks.
- Provide grants to Farmers to emable them recover from heavy losses incured.

Support Nigeria's Ginger Farmers

Let's rally behind Nigeria's ginger farmers and advocate for the support they need. Share this post to raise awareness and inspire action!

"Hero Commodities is proud to have participated in the child labor prevention workshop focused on the ginger sourcing value chain in Nigeria! This important initiative is part of the CBI "Ginger Nigeria" program and was facilitated by the Fair Labor Association.

At Hero Commodities, we are committed to ensuring that our supply chain is free from child labor and that all workers are treated with dignity and respect. We believe that every child deserves to be in school, not in the workplace.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with CBI and Fair Labor Association to identify and address any labor issues in our ginger sourcing. Together, we can make a difference and create a more sustainable and ethical supply chain.
