‘President Tinubu’s Reforms Are Working ’ — WTO Chief Okonjo-Iweala Praises Tinubu

World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as a step “in the right direction”.

Okonjo-Iweala was at the villa to brief President Tinubu on the Women Exporters Fund for 146 Nigerian businesswomen.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, Okonjo-Iweala noted that Tinubu deserved credit for his efforts so far but stressed the need to prioritise measures that would stimulate growth.

She urged the Federal Government to implement robust social safety nets to cushion the impact of ongoing reforms and put more money in the hands of Nigerians.

The visit comes just weeks before the end of her first term as WTO chief on August 31, 2025, and the start of her second term on September 1, 2025.

Okonjo-Iweala in 2021 became the first African and first woman to head the 164-member global trade body.

Rehabilitating The 3rd Mainland Bridge Will Cost N3.6 trillion, Reconstructing It Will Cost N3.8 trillion — David Umahi

Minister of Works, David Umahi, says structural rehabilitation of Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge will cost over ₦3 trillion.

Speaking after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, he revealed underwater and structural assessments showed “severe d+mage caused by illegal sand mining, erosion, and corrosion” to the bridge’s piles and piers.

“The rehabilitation is estimated at ₦3.8 trillion, while a complete rebuild would cost about ₦3.6 trillion,” Umahi said. “We have approval for at least seven specialist contractors to carry out detailed investigations, designs and bids for both rehabilitation and new construction under an EPC+F arrangement.”

He noted similar findings for the Carter Bridge, deemed beyond repair, with contractor Julius Berger recommending full replacement at ₦359 billion. The FEC approved advertising for PPP bids and funding talks with lenders, including Deutsche Bank.

“The underwater problems are compounded by decades of neglect and human activities that have undermined the bridge’s substructure,” Umahi said. “We cannot delay. If we decide on rehabilitation, it will require huge resources and specialised engineering. If we opt for a new build, it is slightly less costly but still a massive undertaking.”

FEC also approved interventions for d+maged bridges nationwide, including those in Taraba, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Kwara, and Lagos. “These emergency works will be documented and forwarded to the President for approval,” he said.

Additionally, ₦493 billion was allocated for upgrading the Kano–Katsina Road and building a new Carter Bridge. Costs for the 152km road have risen sharply, with Section One now ₦68 billion and Section Two ₦66.115 billion.

“These are not projects that can be funded solely from the federal budget, given their magnitude,” Umahi said. “We are pursuing partnerships that will bring in private capital while ensuring the government retains oversight and quality control.”

Savage made it clear she’s looking for a partner who owns a private jet and yacht. The mother of one also stated that she can’t handle the complications of dating a man with unresolved family entanglements.

“I’m still looking for someone’s son. I don’t have any [partner]. And I think it is because I’m asking for specific things. Maybe I need to narrow my search down,” she said.

“I’m actually looking for someone who has a private plane, yacht; someone who doesn’t have baby mama drama because I can’t deal with that. Maybe that’s my problem.”

Recently, the songstress revealed that she is now prioritising financial security over love in her romantic relationships.

“Nigeria Will Be Like America If We Have 2 Presidents Like Tinubu – Gov Okpebholo

The governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo has commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Okpebholo while praising Tinubu’s government said Nigeria would have been a better place if the nation had seen presidents like Tinubu.

Okpebholo made this disclosure on Thursday a campaign event in Esan Central for the upcoming Edo Central by-election.

According to the governor, Nigeria would have attained a much better level of development if it had better presidents like the president.

Hailing some of the policies of the present administration, the Edo State governor described Tinubu’s leadership style and economic reforms as transformative.

He also said that the recent tax reform bill signed by the president is evidence of the efforts made by Tinubu to stabilise Nigeria’s economy.

“The president we have today, if Nigeria had had two of such presidents, Nigeria would’ve been like America,” Okpebholo said.

According to Victor Kaycee Onyendi, Ms Sylvia Obilor secured admission at the University of Salford, Manchester England.

She has started making arrangements for her relocation to UK.

Because already she has concluded her first degree in the Department of Survey and Geoinformatics, Abia State University Uturu.

She has initiated the process of transferring her transcript to University of Salford.

Sadly she was in the church on Saturday and even posted on Facebook.

She reportedly called her mum that same day that she will be coming to visit her.

But unfortunately fate had other plans as she d!ed after suffering Seizure.

May her soul rest in peace💔
