An old man began to suspect that his wife was having hearing problems. Concerned, he called their doctor to book an appointment.
The doctor said, "I can see her in two weeks. But before then, you can do a simple test at home to help me understand how serious the problem is."
The old man asked, "What should I do?"
The doctor replied, "Stand about 40 feet away from her and ask a question in your normal voice. If she doesn't respond, move closer and ask again. Keep reducing the distance until she answers."
That evening, his wife was in the kitchen preparing dinner while he was in the living room.
Standing about 40 feet away, he shouted:
π΄ "Honey, what's for dinner?"
No response.
He moved closer, about 30 feet away.
π΄ "Honey, what's for dinner?"
Still no response.
He moved to about 20 feet away.
π΄ "Honey, what's for dinner?"
Nothing.
Now getting worried, he moved to the kitchen entrance, about 10 feet away.
π΄ "Honey, what's for dinner?"
Silence again.
At this point, he was convinced his wife could barely hear anything.
So he walked right behind her and asked one more time:
π΄ "Honey, what's for dinner?"
His wife turned around angrily and shouted:
π΅ "FOR THE FIFTH TIME... CHICKEN!!! πππ"
πππ The old man immediately realized that the person who needed the hearing test was not his wife!
