How FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike Was Ultimately Hum!liated After Calling Chief Of Defence Staff On Phone Hoping For Him To Order The Military Officer, Yerima Out
Socio-political analyst, Charles Ogbu wrote: “In his unbridled arrogance, Wike was like; ‘okay, let me call the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) to order this small boy to get out of my way.’ He called the CDS who is the head of the entire service Chiefs, spoke with him and handed his own phone to officer Yarima probably expecting to hear things like: ‘sorry sir’ ‘yes sir’ ‘we are now leaving sir’ but the good officer calmly and respectfully explained his position to the CDS who after listening, obviously refused to give the order Wike was expecting forcing the now disgraced minister to disgracefully leave the premises in a slow walk of shame (In the first place, it was unbridled arrogance that made Wike think he could get the CDS to short-circuit the established Military Chain of Command in such manner)
Take a moment to imagine the humiliation in having to call the highest Military Chief to report an officer and having to hand over your own phone to the person against whom the call was made and still having the CDS dash your expectation forcing you to be the one getting out in disgrace after shouting ‘get out’ at the officer? This episode simply shows that despite his noise on TV, Wike is not really as powerful as he thinks himself. And he is not even smart, else, he would have sat in his office and use his phone to go through the right chain of command and resolve the issue instead of taking his full security entourage to physically go confront military men acting on orders, thereby endangering his life and those of others.
But wait a minute, was Wike really expecting the CDS to break protocol by directly countering an order issued by his ex boss and have his property revoked and demolished NOT IN OVERRIDING PUBLIC INTEREST but just so they could be re-allocated to the Minister’s children, cronies and associates as has been the case in Abuja under Wike??”
