Let me ask you a question...
Do you really know the difference between GAIN and VOLUME (FADER)?

Many sound engineers increase the Gain when they want more volume.
❌ BIG MISTAKE!

The Gain k**b is not a volume control.
The Gain controls how much signal enters the mixer.
The Fader controls how much signal leaves the mixer.

If your Gain is too high: 🔴 Distortion starts 🔴 Feedback becomes easier 🔴 The mix becomes harsh 🔴 Livestream quality suffers.

If your Gain is too low: 🔴 Weak sound 🔴 No punch 🔴 Poor signal-to-noise ratio
Professional sound engineers know that: 👉 Good sound starts with proper Gain Structure.

Now be honest...
How do you normally set your Gain?
A. Turn it up until it sounds loud
B. Use PFL/Solo and set proper levels
C. I don't know how to set Gain correctly.

You can absolutely use an iRig on your laptop, especially for:

OBS Studio livestreaming
Online meetings
Recording vocals
Church streaming
Podcasting
Zoom
Skype
Streamlabs.

The connection method depends on the type of iRig you have.
Method 1 — Using iRig With Laptop Through USB
If your iRig has:

USB port
Type-C
Lightning + USB support
Then:
Connection Flow
Mixer/Mic → iRig → USB → Laptop

Steps
Connect microphone or mixer to iRig
Connect iRig to laptop with USB cable
Open OBS or recording software
Go to Audio Settings
Select iRig as:
Input Device
Microphone Source.

Method 2 — Using Analog iRig (Headphone Type)
Older iRig models use 3.5mm TRRS connection.
You will need:

TRRS to USB adapter OR
External sound card
Connection Flow
Mixer → iRig → Adapter → Laptop
Without proper adapter:
laptop may not detect microphone
audio may be noisy
connection may fail.

Recommended Connection;

Mixer AUX SEND → iRig → Laptop → OBS

Open Settings
Audio
Mic/Auxiliary Audio
Select: “iRig” or “USB Audio Codec”
Then:
talk into microphone
watch audio meter
avoid red clipping
Important Sound Settings
Sample Rate

Set:
48kHz (Best for video streaming)
Audio Level
Keep around:
-12dB to -6dB
Never allow red clipping.

Biggest Mistake most People Make
They connect:
speaker output
amplifier output
directly into iRig.
This causes:
distortion
noise
damaged input.

Always use:
AUX OUT
REC OUT
LINE OUT
from mixer.
