Broke But Anointed: When the Oil Doesn’t Pay the Bills

Have you ever looked at your life and asked, “Why am I so anointed yet still broke?” You pray, fast, serve diligently, and even operate in powerful spiritual gifts, yet your bank account constantly cries for help. You give, tithe, and sow seeds, but you're still hustling to meet basic needs.

This tension, being spiritually rich but financially poor is a painful reality many Christians face but few talk about. This isn’t about lack of faith or disobedience; sometimes, it’s simply that no one ever taught you the full picture of how Kingdom Wealth works.

Let’s uncover what they don’t tell you about being broke but anointed, and more importantly, how to break free.

📖 Bible Foundation

“The widow cried out to Elisha, saying, ‘Your servant my husband is dead... and the creditor is coming to take my two sons.’” – 2 Kings 4:1

This widow's husband was a prophet, an anointed man who walked closely with God, but he died broke, leaving behind debts. He had oil in the spirit but had not translated it into resources on earth. That’s many of us today, gifted but struggling. Even Elisha himself, though he performed mighty miracles, was dependent on others for support and sustenance. Jesus had no fixed income, yet He was never in lack because He understood Kingdom systems and lived from a place of divine supply.

💡 The Reality: Why You’re Anointed But Still Struggling

1. Anointing Does Not Automatically Equal Wealth.
The oil of God on your life is meant to break yokes (Isaiah 10:27), but it doesn’t replace the wisdom, systems, and discipline needed for financial stewardship.

2. Kingdom Wealth Is Both Spiritual and Practical.
Many believers stop at the spiritual side—tithing, sowing, and praying. But they ignore the practical side—budgeting, investment, skill acquisition, and value creation.

3. Church Culture Has Over-Spiritualized Money.
We’ve been taught that just "believing” or “giving” will bring us money, but wealth in the Kingdom is tied to principles, purpose, and productivity.

4. Poverty Is Not Always a Sign of Holiness.
Some anointed people unconsciously wear poverty as a badge of spirituality. But that’s not God’s will. The Bible says:

“It is the Lord your God who gives you the power to get wealth…” – Deuteronomy 8:18

✅ Action Points: How to Move From Broke to Kingdom Wealth

1. Identify Your Value and Package It.
You are more than a prayer warrior. What problems can you solve? What skill can you develop? Wealth flows in the direction of value.

2. Ask God for Strategic Instructions.
Like the widow who asked Elisha for help, don’t just pray—seek direction. Sometimes your miracle is in your obedience to a prophetic strategy.

3. Balance Spiritual Obedience With Practical Wisdom.
Tithe, yes. Sow, yes. But also budget, plan, and invest. Don’t just declare millions; learn what to do when it comes.

4. Get Mentored by Kingdom Wealth Builders.
Walk with people who are both spiritual and financially literate. You need insight, not just inspiration.

5. Stop Romanticizing Poverty.
Poverty is not your portion in the Kingdom. You are called to finance the gospel, help the needy, and leave an inheritance.

🧠 Final Thoughts: Your Oil Is Meant to Multiply

You may be broke right now, but you are not poor. There is oil in your house, but until you recognize it, develop it, and align it with purpose, your story won’t change.

Being anointed is not enough. God wants you anointed and wealthy so you can fund His agenda, bless others, and live out the fullness of your calling.

During a robbery in Zimbabwe, the bank robber shouted to everyone in the bank: "Don't move. The money belongs to the State. Your life belongs to you."

Everyone in the bank laid down quietly. This is called "Mind Changing Concept” Changing the conventional way of thinking.

When a lady lay on the table provocatively, the robber shouted at her: "Please be civilized! This is a robbery and not a r**e!"

This is called "Being Professional” Focus only on what you are trained to do!

When the bank robbers returned home, the younger robber (MBA-trained) told the older robber (who has only completed Year 6 in primary school): "Big brother, let's count how much we got."

The older robber rebutted and said: "You are very stupid. There is so much money it will take us a long time to count. Tonight, the TV news will tell us how much we robbed from the bank!"

This is called "Experience.” Nowadays, experience is more important than paper qualifications!

After the robbers had left, the bank manager told the bank supervisor to call the police quickly. But the supervisor said to him: "Wait! Let us take out $10 million from the bank for ourselves and add it to the $70 million that we have previously embezzled from the bank”.

This is called "Swim with the tide.” Converting an unfavorable situation to your advantage!

The supervisor says: "It will be good if there is a robbery every month."

This is called "Killing Boredom.” Personal Happiness is more important than your job.

The next day, the TV news reported that $100 million was taken from the bank. The robbers counted and counted and counted, but they could only count $20 million. The robbers were very angry and complained: "We risked our lives and only took $20 million. The bank manager took $80 million with a snap of his fingers. It looks like it is better to be educated than to be a thief!"

This is called "Knowledge is worth as much as gold!"

The bank manager was smiling and happy because his losses in the share market are now covered by this robbery.

This is called "Seizing the opportunity.” Daring to take risks!

So who are the real robbers here?

⚜ Why Michelangelo Never Married

In a world where marriage was expected—especially for successful men—Michelangelo stood apart.

He never took a wife. Never raised children. Never shared a home with a lifelong companion.

Why?

Some say he was too obsessed with his art. And it’s true: Michelangelo lived like a monk with a chisel. He slept in his clothes. Ate little. Worked until his hands bled. He once wrote, “I am married to my work. My soul is with God, my heart with stone.”

But there’s more beneath the surface of the marble.

Michelangelo’s deepest, most poetic writings were not addressed to women—but to a young nobleman named Tommaso dei Cavalieri.

Their bond was intense, passionate, spiritual. Whether it was romantic or not, we may never know for sure.

But the sonnets Michelangelo wrote for Tommaso are some of the most tender love poems of the Renaissance.

Michelangelo believed his talent came directly from God—and he feared it, as much as he revered it.

To love a woman, marry her, raise a family? That would mean less time with the divine. He once said, “I have no friends. I need none but my work.”

Imagine the weight of feeling chosen by God to create beauty that would outlive empires.

Michelangelo belonged to art. To God.
To marble.
Not to this world—
and perhaps, not to anyone.

“In your 20s, you should focus on learning and building, not driving Benz, buying Azu in nightclubs, and funding dozens of girlfriends.

And don’t forget that your biggest challenges, temptations, and pressures will come in your 30s If, at this phase of your life, you still don’t have a direction, foundation, a proven mentor, and disciplined enough not to make decisions based on emotions and temporary gratification, your 40s will be a nightmare without an end in sight.

Instead of saying God forbid, prepare and get ready”

Before I entered my 20s, this was the first thing my Big Brother taught me and it is printed and pasted almost everywhere that my eyes can easily reach.

If you see me along the road, simple and humble, don't think you have what I don't have, we are not heading the same place. Well, I will be 30 in less than 4 years to come, by then we will do our dorime 🤣.
for now, my brain is always occupied with something far from what you think is life.

The problem we are having in our society today is because the younger ones are too desperate to drive the type of car someone in his or her 50 is driving.

We fancy a very tall and luxurious mansion, forgetting that the foundation was laid on a place that was once a bush.

We don't need any foundation, we need the tall mansion and this is why even the richest Scammer would still go back to square one because no foundation was laid.

No matter how you paint it. A stolen wealth can never equate the wealth built legitimately no matter how small it is.

We fancy the enjoyment of the moment, but no one cares where the boat is heading to.

The younger ones doesn't need stress anymore. They hate anyone that force them to learn patience.

One of the guys that came back from HK after yahoo failed him, that I took to Jamb office to register him for jamb came back and uploaded a P0rn0graphy on his WhatsApp status, and I scolded him, then because of this, he changed his mind after he left my house and now, he's nowhere to be found except his trouser that he left in my house that contains packet of condom in the pocket. That's the type of life he loves living.

He first complained that he's not enjoying my house because I don't take alcohol or smoke, that I'm boring. Lol.

School is now a long way that no young man desires to walk through, where you can just sit down , and steal from those who go school.

Learning skills is now a no go area, where you can just learn how to lie and scam those who have money.

Shame on my generation.

I think I'm born in the wrong generation. Tufiakwa.

When I spend hours in church they say I am lazy, jobless and stupid. probably not to my face. But when they spend hours at the stadium watching games or go to night clubs it's okay.
When I give N200,000 in church they ridicule me but praise me for buying a ticket to a secular musician concert for N500,000. They claim I am enriching a pastor but they are happy to support an artiste.
When I donate N1,000,000 to sponsor a crusade they say that Pastor is using me to gain popularity but when I spend N10,000,000 to buy a house for a side chic they praise me as a generous guy and a Kool dude.
I love God and as a member of my church, I have come to love some men of God. Why do the world call me a fanatic? But lovers of CR7, MESSI, SALAH, Aubameyang, MANE, Ndidi, Shata Wale, Davido and Wizkid are fans.
You spend hundreds of dollars on alcohol and other things that you think make you happy but when I pay tithe, missions offering, welfare dues and sow seeds in church you think I am not normal.
You travel to France and USA for vacation and entertainment but when I go to Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Canada for church service you think I am wasting my money.
You wear CR7 & Messi's jersey, have Shatta Wale, Davido, P Square, Sarkodie and Michael Jackson's pictures and other materials in your car, house etc but when I wear a T-shirt with my Church's picture, you feel I am weird.
Child of God, don't let anyone kill your passion for God and His work. Keep being a fool for Christ.

Somebody Deliverance is tied to this post, share it as far as can.

God bless you.

Aim for discipline, not motivation.

Motivation is just a feeling.
Discipline is a habit.
Discipline is the key to success.

99% of the success I have experienced has been directly correlated with my ability to act despite how I feel.

That’s why when people say, “How do you stay motivated?”
The answer is, “I don’t.”

I don’t rely on my feelings to get the job done. If anything, I can only count on my feelings to delay the job from getting done.

Feelings are fleeting and often illogical. Relying on a sensation to accomplish anything will leave you inconsistent and ultimately deter you from success.

The key is to build your “Get s**t done when I feel like s**t” muscle. Because that’s the truth, every ounce of your being will want to avoid or excuse… but you do it anyway.

Things I tell myself to build the GSD muscle…

“If you’re going to do it eventually, you may as well do it now.”
“I don’t need to feel good to stick with the plan.”
“If I do what’s hard now, the later will be easy.”

Every great achievement starts with a vision. I see it, I believe in it, and I won’t stop until it becomes real. The road may be tough, the challenges may push me to my limits, but my determination is stronger than any obstacle. Success isn’t given, it’s earned through hard work, discipline, and an unshakable mindset. No matter how many times I fall, I will rise again, because my dreams are worth fighting for. One step at a time, one rep at a time—until I turn my vision into reality. The grind never stops!

As you grow into an adult, remember these essential life lessons:

1. When it comes to money, using leverage (smart strategies) is more effective than just working hard.
2. High-earning individuals typically use their mental skills more than physical effort.
3. To become a highly valued person, develop expertise in something that society truly needs.
4. Never prioritize money over family or health.
5. You need a healthy family and body to truly enjoy the wealth you're working towards.
6. Life operates on the principle of giving and receiving. Add value to people's lives to reap rewards.
7. Failure is an opportunity to grow stronger and become a better version of yourself.
8. If you're struggling financially, it's likely because you haven't added enough value to people's lives yet.
9. To add value to others, you must first develop value within yourself.
10. Until you develop value, you'll continue to struggle financially.
11. Talent and gifts can bring success, but character is what sustains it.
12. If you have nothing valuable to offer, you'll only be invited to serve others, not sit at the table with them.
13. The value you offer determines your seat at the table of greatness.
14. Have you ever noticed that only valuable people are invited to sit at the head table at important events?
15. Life has its own "head table" where influential people gather. To join them, you must offer genuine value.

I hope these lessons inspire and guide you.

Thanks for reading.

“Let your passion to achieve be so strong that even the fear of losing doesn't stop you from trying.”

Every dream we have, every journey we embark on, and every step we take comes with the understanding that success is not guaranteed. However, if we allow fear to prevent us from trying, we will miss out on the opportunity to experience the path to success.

It’s natural to have doubts and fears at times. You may even question your journey repeatedly along the way, but don’t let fear and doubt undermine your strength. You are strong and resilient.

Give yourself a chance and take that leap. When you are truly passionate and driven, you can achieve your goals. Even if you don’t end up exactly where you want to be, you will certainly be closer to it.
