INTERVIEW AND REVIEW BEFORE YOU SAY "I DO"!
In my last post, I made a striking comparison between finding the right spouse to get married to and shopping on e-commerce sites like Amazon, Jumia, etc, or interviewing a set of job applicants for a job opening.
As promised in that post, I will follow up today by explaining 3 steps you need to take in deciding if your spouse is the right person for you.
Let's get right into it!
Step 1 - Interview your Spouse
Go into that courtship relationship with an investigative mindset…a mind of finding out who your spouse is, devoid of sentiments. Though they may have said yes, you want to know them better…find out who they are; how well the person fits with your standards and God’s standards, goals, visions, etc…. (I'll explain more of that in a future post...do watch out for it!).
Step 2 - Review your Spouse
Objectively critique all your discoveries and findings about your spouse…did you find some positive qualities or some negative ones?
What’s the proportion of positive to negative qualities?
Does he or she cut it?
Step 3 - Accept or Reject your Spouse
If after you have completed the interview and review phases, you find out that both of you aren’t aligned or in agreement with each other, then by all means…end the relationship! Take off! After all, you aren’t married yet. As they say, “a broken courtship is always better than a broken marriage.”
Conversely, if you conclude that both of you are well-aligned, then by all means, you can proceed with the wedding!
Finally….
So, remember, saying “YES” to that guy or lady is Never FINAL!
If you could go the extra mile of checking out reviews and ratings of products on Jumia and Amazon just to buy the right product and ensure you grill prospective candidates before deciding the best candidate for the job opportunity in your firm, shouldn’t you do much more for your marriage - something that could become a matter of life or death in the future or determine your mental, emotional and financial well-being??
Of course, I’m sure you’re well aware of stories of people who killed their spouses or became an emotional or mental wreck directly or indirectly because of the actions of their spouses.
I strongly believe that if they had subjected their spouses to some rigorous interviews and reviews during their courtship before marriage, they wouldn’t have ended up with such spouses.
Like they say, a word is enough for the wise!
If you’re single and reading this, I would like you to see your future relationship/courtship as a period when you’ll be interviewing your prospective spouse for a job - your future marriage.
Happy Reviewing and Interviewing!
Till we meet next online or offline, stay blessed!
