Oloyede: JAMB officials among 17 facing prosecution for NYSC mobilisation fraud

Ishaq Oloyede says at least 17 persons, including JAMB officials, are facing prosecution by law enforcement agencies over various infractions related to the mobilisation of graduates for national service.

The JAMB registrar addressed graduates at the 2025 Batch ‘C’ pre-mobilisation workshop of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) held in Abuja on Monday.

Oloyede said the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board urged participants at the workshop to avoid data manipulation.

JAMB makes admission status declaration mandatory for 2026 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed that the 2026 UTME registration template must include a mandatory declaration of current admission status.

This, the JAMB Bulletin reports, means prospective candidates must state whether they are already students of any tertiary institution.

This measure is part of the board’s renewed efforts to curb impersonation and other forms of examination malpractice, following observations during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination cycle.

Douye Diri: I'll work with stakeholders to ensure APC gets 99% of votes in Bayelsa

Duoye Diri, governor of Bayelsa, says he will work with party stakeholders to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) gets 99 percent of the votes in the 2027 general election.

Diri spoke on Monday in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa, when he officially joined the ruling party.

“I am not a bossy type. I have come to unite us so that we can work together and produce a 99 per cent result in Bayelsa come 2027. I don’t know the opposition from the other side,” he said.

“There is so much we can do together by aligning with the federal government that has shown us the will and direction that they love the people of Bayelsa state.

“Don’t let anybody deceive you; anybody telling you otherwise is for their own selfish purposes. A lot of people were afraid that there might be factions in the APC.

Wike: Atiku had no choice but to quit PDP... he couldn't use it for his ambition

Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar had no option but to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On July 14, Abubakar resigned from the PDP, saying the party has strayed from its founding ideals and is bogged down by “irreconcilable differences”.

Wike said Abubakar’s exit from the opposition party was inevitable because he could not use the PDP for his personal ambition.

“Atiku has no choice but to leave because he wanted to use the PDP, but knowing that I’m there, he cannot get that platform,” the FCT minister said.

He also accused the former vice-president and other defectors of weakening the party.

“Those are people who destroyed the party,” he said, adding, “How many times has he left PDP and returned?”
